Was a secret ingredient on Chopped: Grill Masters for the dessert portion of the show tonight. The two finalists said "It tasted bad" and "It was the worst thing I have ever tasted".

food network sometimes has craft beer as mandatory ingredients for their competition shows. i can't remember the exact beers, but iron chef america had a bunch that were featured. pretty cool. my buddy had that bacon ale, and said it was pretty bad haha. i haven't/don't want to try it.

its bad, but worth a shot. My bar back home said that they saw it priced around $18. I about spit my beer out in laughter. $18 for that seems a bit much.

It was basically a smoke beer (and not a very good one) to me with a slight maple sweetness to it. Its missing a lot and smelled better than it tasted.

When I first saw this beer, I really wanted to try it, but after all I've heard from people I trust and the internet, I only kind of want to try it- out of curiosity more than anything.

Oh lawdy. I guess I'll state it now because I really am the 1% on BA. I LOVE this beer!

I just had this tonight for the first time. Priced at $13. Would I get it again, no, but it was not bad IMHO and it is a smoke - brown ale style beer. I love DIPA/IPA/ and Stouts as my normal goto beers, but will try anything once.

Best way to sum this up. It was bold, you can tell its a Smokey beer, maple comes though as does smoked meat. Overall for what it was, I thought they did a good job. It is not something you are gona session with, but it was worth having.

Rogue is simply pushing the envelope to try new things. But that is why craft beer has evolved. If WE as BA's were not willing or to try new things, I am sure we would all just be sitting around with a Bud in our hands now (Or in my case, Molson Canadian / Blue) right now.

I love having my goto great beers, but trying the new stuff is always fun and part of the spirit of craft beer and its evolution. For all we know they think Budweiser is fantastic.

On a second note, I think that beer would pair well with food. Also it’s a TV show.... Being on Chopped at that does not quality them as beer experts.

    Cheers.

I mail ordered it, tasted bacon-y, yeasty. Not too bad but couldn't drink the whole bottle. Liked the smokyness though.

I too mail ordered this one. I was deeply disappointed. I had high hopes for it, but when I opened it my friends and I ended up dumping it down the drain.

I think ye lot are a bit rough on it. I'd certainly call it experimental and innovative. Bold might be a good word. I didn't love it but I did think it was interesting. There's something there they can build upon, no?

I also saw that and noticed. Bright pink bottle and the fact that on one else makes this kind of beer made it kind of obvious. It was interesting that both of the guys cooking basically said itw as aweful. '

Its been popping up around here over the past week or 2 around 15 a bottle. I cant bring myself to spend that much on something that people almost universally say is pretty bad. Especially with the double mocha porter, double chocolate stout and double dead guy around to for about the same price that, at least in theroy, should be much better. Though I am curious at the same time.

Good to try once. It was certainly a unique experience. I shared my bottle and have no intentions to revisit.

The funny thing is that the first couple of sips is when the beer is at its best; it's all downhill after that, at least when I tried it, getting more harsh and syrupy along the way. Imagine the producers saying "If you want to win this contest you have to drink a whole bottle, and if you don't like it now, well, it ain't gonna grow on you". You did say this was on Fear Factor, right?

I'd say it's an acquired taste. I got three bottles of it. The first, I absolutely hated. The second was better, and the third was better still. I wouldn't buy more, but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I scored 2 bottles from the grilfriends grandmother. She said she got two in Oregon and thought I'd like it. Sweeettt as I wanted to try it but didn't want to shell out the money. 2oz was worth it and drinkable so luckily it was split with a group. The other one I'll save to open with friends.

I thought this beer was good. I wonder if the people that hate this beer just hate smoked beers in general. It's definitely an acquired taste for most.

I like smoked beer but this was way too much smoke and it was just bad imo.

I honestly think more people would try it if it wasn't priced so ridiculously. Almost all the Rogue beers I've seen are far too expensive for what they're actually worth, so they're not doing themselves any favors by asking for more than $5 for this aberration.
