for work. Will be downtown. Looking for some tasty out of market (live in PGH) stuff. Philly's selection is far superior to the Burgh.

Cigar City and Russian River would be great starters or any fresh FW if available. First things first, any chance I can find a Pliny on draft somewhere? Assuming the answer is no, any place downtown worth visiting. Any bottle shops in the downtown area worth seeking out? Anything else I should consider seeking out if I have time?

    Thanks.

I was in Philly for work in August. My favorite bottle shop was The Craft Beer Outlet. My favorite place in the city limits was Crime & Punishment. My favorite place in the area was Tired Hands.

I like Northern Liberties Beer for a bottle shop. I believe you can take the subway there. Just be careful. It's a somewhat sketchy area. I walked straight through a drug deal last time I was walking there haha oops. Monks is always a great start. I also like Khyber pass pub in old city.

You can take the subway near northern liberties beer, then a half mile-ish walk from the station, which contains 2-3 blocks of slightly less gentrified area, but fairly safe still. There is an above ground trolley you can take on girard instead of walking. It's a great shop, with among the best prices and selection. Monde market and locust deli will both have russian river sours on the shelf.

I am heading to Philly next week and I am staying in Willow Grove. are there any decent bottle shops to stock up my hotel room in the local area?

Just a heads-up: Willow Grove is actually 20 miles north of Philadelphia. You're looking at almost an hour on the train to get into the city.

The iron Abbey has a solid tap list and above it is their bottle shop some that has a pretty good selection

I second this. Iron Abbey in Willow Grove is a great spot and always has a great selection, they often have Tired Hands, Forest & Main, had fresh Jai Lai on my last visit and other top beers. Plus the food is great also if you plan to eat.

Feel ridiculous asking this since I've been hanging in Philly since I was a little boy and drinking there for years but I am in town for a night for a conference next week (Thursday night) and wonder if there is somewhere within walking distance of the Marriot downtown (market and 12th) with a top notch tap list? Hoping to break free and grab some killer hand drawn noodles in Chinatown and follow it up with a glass or 4 of great beer with an old friend. Maybe Pistolas? Probably not looking to cram into Monks, would like to be able to sit and relax and have a conversation. Thoughts?

To close the loop on this, thanks for the recommendations. Had 3 HF S&S #5 at Tria Taproom. Man that was an awesome beer and first time ever tasting HF. You folks in Philly sure have a lot of great options. After the 2nd, I considered a cab ride for a PtE but decided it would be letdown compared to the S&S.
