Stone Pale Ale 2.0. I usually post these pics more or less without comment and I certainly have no interest in denigrating anyone's opinion about beer, but I have to say that I'm amused by the relatively negative reaction to this beer on the site. It seems like most of the complaints are either that the beer is too malty or that people aren't comfortable with the characteristics of the German hops. My thought is that in a world that is awash with session IPA and "Pale Ales" that are really IPA by a different name, a balanced, interestingly-hopped Pale Ale is a nice call on Stone's part.

Well another great day here in Central NH. It was in the upper 60's when we finished our ride today. We managed a respectable 93 miles and are looking forward to heading to the coast for a ride there tomorrow. I have said the hell with the leaves as long as this weather holds I'll be riding my bike every day.
I'm starting out with Super Session 2 from Lawsons to easy some fluids back in.

First day of my new job at a beer store tonight. Figured I'd celebrate with some Tacos and this Fremont Summer Ale. Not a bad IPA at all.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Served in a weizen glass, brought back from my trip to Seattle.

Appearance : Lightly colored but 80% opaque. Blonde hay color, with a tall creamy cap about 2 fingers tall and leaving whitewalls of lace on the sides of the glass.

Aroma : Grapefruit, onion, and slight pine. Some spice as well.

Taste : A fabulous malt backbone with lots of grapefruit, pine, fruity esters, and finally a yeasty onion wash at the end. Some onion skins in the midst of the maltiness as well. Light pricks of pine tingle on the finish. The onion comes out more as it warms a few degrees.

Feel : Pretty good for an IPA. It's neither too creamy or too light. Its got a great balance in the feel. Moderate carbonation props up the slightly dense profile.

Overall : This was a pretty good offering. I would buy it again if I was in the mood for an IPA and in Washington.
