    It is "born last week" by now. Wonder if it was caused by a transportation or state of Ohio UPC issue.

    Glad that I was able to get some "born two hours ago" hop stalker last month. Can't imagine that born yesterday will be much better.

    Is this where we are with ipas now? A week old is undrinkable?

    As far as I'm concerned, once an IPA leaves the brite tank it's undrinkable poison.

    Thanks - my comment wasn't about needing the freshness, just the marketing of this release and how Ohio seems to get many releases well after other states - even those further from the source. I had some Oracle in Kalamazoo this summer, then waited over a month for it to start showing up in Ohio.

    Actually, I prefer the fresh/wet hop IPAs with a week or more on them. The Hop Stalker that I picked up from the taphouse and enjoyed a few hours after the bottling date/time wasn't as good as those enjoyed a week later. Had the same experience with Juju this spring - not as good on day #1 - drinking great days later. Like homemade chili, better the second day or beyond.

    I will be on the hunt for some "born last week" when it finally shows up in Ohio - hopefully before it becomes "born last month".

    @SteelCranium

    I run into the same thing with my homebrew beers as well... People go crazy about IPA freshness, but it really takes a few weeks before it really hits its prime. My IPA's typically the first few weeks after bottling it just lacks something... Then around just over a month they seem to just explode with the flavor and aroma you would expect.

    I assume it all depends how long the brewery conditions the beer prior to bottling though, then of course how long it takes to get the shelf. But if you can snag a week old IPA, it may just taste better after another few weeks... So I wouldn't be all worried about drinking them ASAP.

    I think there is also an assumption that the bottles we'll get are from last week/month. Now that they have the Chicago brewery we can get stuff pretty quickly.

    Bottles are 9 days old...so I think they will be just fine:wink:. People need to realize it's just not as easy as they think it is to get beer to certain states in the time all of demand now a days. So many variables. People continue to lose their "sh*t" over bottle dates. It's maddening. Side by side of a beer that is 4 days old to a beer that is 3 weeks old? Gonna be able to tell the difference? Everyone needs to makes like Fat Heads and "Chill out and have a beer!".

    PS - Shawn, this is NO way directed towards you. Sorry that it is response to your post.

    Anyone know what's up with unsessionable? The ones that were going around before were dates 10-10 or 10-9 I think. Bought some today that just came in dated 9-26 or something like that. So I hope I did not just waste my money.

    Went to Eudora Brewing tonight. Tried Bangarang IPA, which was solid, Thunderball Oatmeal Stout, which was good, Far Far Away Pale Ale which was excellent, and Hullabaloo, which is ridiculously good. They've got 3 cases of it left for 15 each. Going to grab one Friday. It's an English Barleywine aged in Cabernet barrels.

    Cheers :slight_smile:

    Riiiight, just pure coincidence huh?

    On a serious note, I try not to be too judgy when it comes to freshness but it seems like I buy more beer than I can drink so I tend to buy hoppy beers that are within a couple months of bottling because I don't know how quickly I'll be able to drink them all. I know, #firstworldbeersnobproblems am i rite?

    To me Born Yesterday is just Lagunitas' version of "Enjoy By IPA" as far as freshness goes. I figure even for people that are picky about IPA freshness this beer will be fine for at least a month after bottling if not longer.
