Sometimes, I like to just stare at my collection and admire the bottle shapes, labels, and potential flavors that lurk inside. It's also the same at the store.

Someone is going to chime in with the following, it might as well be me:

I chat online about beer with other beer enthusiasts.

Sold my house to buy the bourbon county line of beers.

But really, maybe that I make everybody at my house try a beer before I take my first sip. I share the wealth. They usually aren't fans.

I go to my beer store at about 2:30pm every Wednesday looking for Short's latest release

I have to put giant stickers with prices on my beers in my cellar to remind me which ones taste better.

I don't have an actual cellar. I just throw my beers on a random shelf in my basement and usually end up aging them for a few hours before deciding to drink them

Check out the beer selection every time I go into a store that sells beer. Even a gas station. Even if I Just bought some earlier from somewhere else. I can't stand knowing I may have missed something

Whenever I travel for business, kid's sports or family vacation I immediately plan beer purchases around it. Google map destination / hotel / route and start moving outward to find bottle shops and breweries, cross referenced with BA reviews, places and regional forums. Lastly, investigate releases and top beers from that state or area in order to create a "shopping list" of sorts. I can easily forget to pack something but I certainly won't lack for intelligence in seeking beer!

I don't think it's weird since a lot of people here do it, but I make everyone I'm with try the beer I'm drinking if they haven't. I also stress the "two sip" rule and make them drink it twice before they make a decision.
I tend to buy beer with the intention of drinking/sharing and then I never do either. I still have a 5l keg of Oberon from this summer that I haven't even cracked into yet.
I should probably get on that.

I set my beer fridge to 45° instead of super cold. To my family, im weird, but they drink Coors Light so i can see why they want ice cold. They want to see those mountains.

    • Take a picture of every single new beer I get my hands on, unopened and immediately after serving it. Like a personal file.
    • I collect labels, so sometimes I waste time just browsing through my collection.
    • Browse the entire beer selection of any supermarket, convenience or liquor store I go to every time I visit them. Even if I know there will be no new beers or I won't buy anything.

Me too! Gotta document the purchases. I also keep a list. Just a simple text file, not a spread sheet...haven't reached that level of geekdom yet.

Before I taste my beer I take a picture of it, beside the can or bottle. For Untappd / future reference.

I'm "that guy" that several shop owners probably know as the guy that spends the most time in their store scouring over all the beer inventory numerous times before finally deciding on my purchases. 10 min is the minimum and as high as 35 minutes on the max side for me. Probably average 15-20 minutes every visit if I were to guess. I'm sure it seems quite weird to most store employees.

I literally just did that a few days ago when I got gas. Surprisingly had more selection than I thought.
