Weird beer things you do...

It is annoying though when there is a whole beer cave the size of a bottle shops, at a gas station, and there's like 100 cases of only bud

 

Last time I bought beer, it took over an hour total for two different stores.

 

I make beer trades from my phone. I don't think it's weird but others do

 

Also sometimes when I try something new if I like the first one, I will next day go out and buy two more six packs cause I'm afraid I'll run out. I do this way too often.

 

I sometimes whisper sweet nothings into my open beer bottles.

 

This isn't weird. This is astute planning and resource management. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to do this before going on vacation last summer.

 

I go on the hunt every year for Central Waters BB Barleywine. See where I can find the most cases at the best deal and I stock up. Then I get hate mail because I bought 10 cases and some dude from another state is butthurt about it. lol

I buy beer when both of my fridges are full. I'll eat a cheap lunch to save $$$ then buy a $10 bottle of beer without blinking. I won't drive more than 10 minutes to buy pretty much anything else but I have no issue driving hours to score killer brews. I text my local beer guy in a goofy code so I know exactly when they get something good. I'm sure there's more but I need a beer now ...

 

I don't intentionally age beers. Some just happen to have been sitting in the cellar for a long time.

 

I spend time on a website devoted to it. I'll stop by various beer stores several times a week and spend hundreds of dollars just for a beverage.

I really enjoy it all, but in the old days I used to buy a case of Bud Light at the grocery store every month or two.

Weird things I do, at least weird to others:

1) Smell my beer, like a lot, sometimes for 5 min or more
2) Rinse my glass, often excessively, needs to be super beer clean. I do this for other beverages now too.
3) Use my glasses only for beer, not other liquid other than water shall touch them
4) Hold bottles up to the light at liquor stores trying to find bottle dates / Julian codes
5) Blog about it, talk about it, dream about it, talk to it, hug it....er I mean not the last two, that never happens , nope...

 

There's no way you are the only person who does this. I do the same.

 

I constantly take pictures of my beer and post them online

 

My wife says, "You are so weird! Just drink it!" every time I start to smell my beer (just as @westcoastbeergeek said - sometimes for a few minutes) after it has been poured.

 

I usually post a picture of every one of my beers on Beer Advocate, Untappd, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr... Then when my beer is good and room temperature I drink it while describing it's flavors to my wife, coincidentally boring her and seeing if I can get her to change her mind and enjoy 12% BA Stouts.

 

As a former bean counter (description of the accounting profession), I like to calculate the average ABV of the beer I drink in one session. So if I consume six different beers my spreadsheet will calculate the average ABV. For what purpose it beats the heck out of me.

When I think about it it is a pretty lame thing to do. My wife would say that it is not the dumbest thing I do. Not sure if that makes feel better or worse.
