So Black House Tuesday (collab with The Bruery) is a thing, really regretting leaving town for Thanksgiving weekend.

    Hey guys,

Should have the League details finalized within the next week or so; this is a complicated project and I'm trying to make sure we screw as few things up as possible. I'm also on the road this week picking up a lot more red wine barrels and working on kitchen design for the L.A. space, so things got pushed back a bit.

Very excited for Black House Tuesday. The backstory is that when we were talking about what to do for Black House Black Friday, we suddenly remembered we could have a guest tap since it's a ticketed event. Someone blurted out "Black House Tuesday", which we all agreed would be amazing, and I shot Patrick an email (he's always been super cool to me and generous with information; one of my favorite people in craft beer). He was excited to do one bourbon barrel of Black Tuesday dosed with our Black House coffee and lo and behold: Black House Tuesday is happening. Not much of it though.

Not sure if tickets are transferable; that's more of a BPT question, but they're very quick to respond.

    Cheers & thanks,

That tap list sounds amazing! Maybe it's a good thing I can't go, it'd be nearly impossible to choose your samples. If anyone can find a way to smuggle tasters out I want to be your friend!

Hey Jacob. Just curious. Why have the prices of your bombers gone up so much in the last year. The place I go to that is always reasonable has Horizon at 10 and the new stout at 12. I know last year I paid 10 for monsters park at numerous places. Seems like a large jump.

Just using recent information as speculation, but it was mentioned earlier that this release of Monsters Park was considerably smaller than last year's run since they are going to be barrel aging most of it. Smaller bottle release = larger costs per unit over the scale of the batch. Could be the reason for the jump.

They clarified that there is more than last year a few pages back.

I think it depends on where you go. BevMo in Oceanside has MP for $9.99 and then a liquor store in Carlsbad has it for $12.99. Not sure if BevMo gets better pricing or they operate at a lower margin. Look at Alpine Nelson. It's $7.99 at BevMo and all liquor stores seem to have it at $10.99.

I've stopped buying beer at breweries unless it's a growler fill or I'm buying bottles at Alpine. Most breweries don't/can't undercut what their beer sells for outside.

So Lost Horizon MSRP is $9.99, and I agree, that's too high. This is one of the challenges of pricing 12 monthly releases a year in advance: sometimes you get it wrong and then you don't have the opportunity to correct it until next year. So that's a bummer, and something we'll try to avoid in the future. Live and learn.

Monsters' Park MSRP is $13.99 (plus tax & CRV) this year, and that frankly just reflects what it costs to make that beer. The yield is abysmal, it takes a long time to ferment, and the ingredient costs are high. We just didn't make any money on it last year. You might be seeing it at different prices around town because some places may not have updated their pricing from last year, or some other similar confusion.

I think having those two back-to-back (and now followed by Mega Fortunate, which will also be at $9.99) has given the perception of rising prices when in fact we just inadvertently bunched up some higher priced beers together.

    Cheers & thanks,

BevMo Oside has some of these special releases still, last I looked they still had Mount Remarkable (May), alot of the Fortunate Islands/Grapefruit (August) and Lost Horizons (Oct). I think TJ's has Lost Horizons a dollar less than BevMo.

All sounds reasonable. Bomber prices always intrigue me anyway. Just looking forward to giving you guys all my money when city of the sun cans come out
