I've just been following this thread, and love the fact that I do some of them, want to start doing some of them, and hardly think ANY of them are really strange. Over 200 beers in the cellar, spend more time shopping for beer than everything else put together, save caps, have a ridiculous spreadsheet (so I can sort, for example, to find a RIS with between an 8% and 10% ABV with a rating of at least 90% on BA; I also have pivot tables for rankings by style and brewery), and choose restaurants by beer list rather than food selection.

Regarding pictures, my wife always gets upset when I take vacation pictures of her, because she claims I can't focus or compose pictures -- she has been told by friends to carry a bottle of beer and hold it up and that I'll do great photography work.

As for the sports fandom, a couple of years ago when Michigan was making a run in the NCAA tournament, I drank two Founders Reds' Ryes (a beer brewed in Michigan that I first drank in Ann Arbor) for each game -- one in the first half, one in the second. And for the Mets recent playoff run, I actually had a beer style or brewery for each starting pitcher (which worked for 6 games in a row), and for the one guy I hadn't identified a "winning beer" for I chose something brewed locally to where he grew up.

I often drink new-to-me beers without looking at the BA and/or Untappd score then try to guess them both after drinking the beer.

After I drink a can, cut top and bottom off and a slit down the side to flatten them. Only one of each beer. Not sure what I'll do yet. Have several hundred. Got the idea from the car outside of Max's in Baltimore.

It is so awesome to see that what the rest of society views as "weird", it's perfectly normal in the BA universe. No freaks here! Here's a few my quirks:
I save all bottlecaps, unique or not, plain, etc. They go in a mason jar next to my little beer nook in the kitchen, then into a shadow box frame I have hanging in the house. My only stipulation is that I have to have been the one to have the beer. I don't trade 'em or anything like that. Just keep 'em. I even have a coin with painters tape on one side so I can remove the bottlecap without bending or scratching. I save corks and crowns too.
I don't just rinse with cold water, I fill and drink it. Rinses glass and hydrates me.
My new quirk? Sam Adams new Winter Pack is almost similar to the one they put out my first year here on BA. That was the same year my girlfriend gave me the Libbey Craft Beer glass set. (My first "real" beer glasses.) That made me feel so nostalgic, I decided to use nothing but that glass set for the holiday season. I've broken a couple over time, but have been fortunate enough to replace them individually ... I had too! It's a set!

Last night I drank a Bell's Best Brown out of a coffee mug for reasons I won't get into. It actually wasn't a bad way to drink the beer. I had cleaned the mug out well beforehand so it kept a nice head and was nice and creamy. Definitely beats a paper cup, which was the alternative!

I got a couple of those sets a while back and love them. My two favorite glasses (tulip and stout) have broken but I had a replacement on hand. Hopefully I don't break either of those...if I do, I may have to follow in your footsteps and replace them individually!
Btw, I also love the hefeweizen glass from the set. The other 3 (pilsner, nonic pint, and some other generic shape) I use less frequently.

When I travel or go on vacations I always look for local breweries brewpubs and beers that are distributed in those places that I can't purchase near home. I always make it a point to work these into the schedule.

Me too! The box with descriptions is long gone, but it sure sounds like the exact same set. (Wheat glass, pint, craft pint, ale and dark ale glasses.) If you (and I hope you don't) have to replace a glass, go to Bed, Bath and Beyond. (If you have those stoires in your area.) They are the only place I've found that will open a box of glassware and sell you the individual. Pretty cool. That's where I got the shadow box frame for my bottlecaps.

I do too. That is how I discovered Cigar City, Natty Greene's and Red Oak breweries. Sadly, I cannot locate any of these products in my area.

I hit most of the major Beer Geek quirks: collecting bottle caps (for no real reason), fetish for #properglassware and glassware collecting in general, habitual Untappd ticker, tap handle collection, and merchandise *****.

The biggest exception I might have from most of you is that my wife is my drinking buddy and she is my partner in crime. Everything we do, everywhere we visit...is beer-centric. We just celebrated our 1-year anniversary last month and took a 4 day trip to Chicago to celebrate (her idea)! Hit a bunch in Chicago, drove and stayed the night at 3Floyds, continued on to Grand Rapids, then back to Chicago. The day we flew out, we shot up to Wisconsin for some New Glarus:slight_smile: Ended up shipping 2 full boxes back, plus what we had in our luggage. Pretty amazing trip.

That is awesome about your wife! While my girlfriend doesn't really like beer, she strongly encourages my buying habits. Apparently, she's also been paying closer attention to my hobby than I thought. I got some great beers for sweetest day. We're pretty luck I'd say.

Whenever drinking a beer I have to have my glass exactly centered on my coaster. Every sip calls for endless adjusting, been doing it so long I'm not even aware of it usually. Ocd? Maybe

I love beer like a third child. But once in a while I just can't take any more of it (like a child), and have to take a break. I know it's coming when I'm at a store and can't find a damn thing I want, buy something anyway, and don't finish the first or second glass that night. Or when I can't think of a single style that sounds appealing, and I go home with nothing.
If I take a break for a week or two, and instead drink tequila, whiskey, or nothing, I find myself coming back to an old friend and all is right with the world again.

I have the same habit I try and collect all the labels I can unfortunately I haven't figured out a great way to separate label from bottle so I end up collecting bottles which is not space efficient. Any suggestions?
