I think I've bought maybe 3 or 4 bombers in the past year.

It's especially bad when you end up not caring for the beer, which has happened more times than I'd like to admit.

If I could find New Holland Dragons Milk in 12 oz.bottles,no bomber would lurk in my fridge.Well maybe Yards' Old Bart might find his way in.

Nothing against bombers, it's a great way to check out a new beer without buying a 6 at a higher price. What if you hate it? You don't have 5 dying.

They are rip offs, but sometimes, for the right beer, I bite the bullet. Oh, except Hop Stoopid. Totally worth the 3.29 I pay for a bomber of it.

Adam Vavrick (formerly the beer guy at Binny's Lincoln Park) was interviewed on the "Strange Brews" podcast earlier this year and he discussed this. He said bombers were being phased out as a format and that some of the smaller breweries who need that huge profit margin would not survive.

Personallly, I hate bombers and have only bought 1 or 2 in the last year.

The only ones I buy with any regularity are stone smoked porter and SNPA and the occasional SN harvest series. They are all priced affordably and I know I will enjoy them. If more bombers were priced around 5 bucks if buy a lot more of them, so it's not really the format I'm opposed to do much as the inflated cost per ounce.

I only buy bombers if they have beer that I want to drink inside.

Bombers are by far the worst price point among craft beers.

Another problem I have with them is that a lot of special releases are in bombers only! So i end up having to buy 2 if i want to taste one and cellar one.

Also bombers in general have higher ABV. So you most likely have to share it with someone, which isn't the worst, but you can't crack open a Parabola and drink it down by yourself.

It would be much nicer if breweries did their special releases in 4-packs i.e. Bourbon County. That way you can open one whenever you want, and still have some saved for another time. Honestly i would even prefer a 2-pack of 12oz bottles to a bomber.

I pick up a couple of bombers a month. I've never had a Rogue beer, but there is a shitload of them collecting dust. The GF, SN, etc.., fly off the shelf.

Honest question, are bombers really priced worse, or is it just that more expensive beers are packaged in bombers? When I buy a bomber for $10 or $15 or $20, it's almost never a beer I have the option of buying in any other format, and if it was, I doubt it would be any cheaper. Jolly Pumpkin recently started releasing 375ml bottles and guess what? They're about half the price of the 750s. Those beers are just expensive no matter what.

I think the Bastard Box is a pretty good deal right now. I generally avoid them though.

Bear Republic is one of the only breweries I will still buy a bomber from if it's something I haven't had before. Unfortunately, BR is pretty rare around here and when I do find it the beer is usually old.

I generally avoid bombers if the beer is available in a 4 or 6 pack.

Bombers consist of probably 90% of the beer I both currently have and regularly consume.
