Had this on tap at Black Party 2 years ago (or what was maybe the prototype). Liked it a lot, but wasn't floored by it really. I remember it being awfully sweet. Will definitely try to grab a bottle and see how it is now.

Just read Sierra Nevada is barrel aging Hoptimum in bourbon barrels. The trend is starting.

I might shell out the 15 bucks to buy this. Not a huge black IPA fan, but something tells me that this will be the closest beer to CBS that they'll release until CBS comes back out.

Lol at people taking the time to read through a thread and comment "meh".

Appreciate the thoughts! Your valuable feedback is always welcome here!

when I had pipeworks black tuna (black IPA) I thought it was very similar to surly darkness (hoped up stout)

I just hope that they keep the bourbon presence moderate. If I wanted bourbon, I would drink bourbon.

Sounds like a bad ass beer to me. Founder's rarely does wrong. Meh people--please leave it on the shelf for those that like the craft beer journey. Go drink your fresh Natty Boh and stop whining.

Now that is saying something! My personal favorites were fresh 2009 Nemesis and Bourbon Barrel Sumatra Brown...Hand of Doom and Looking glass are up there though!

Sounds delicious - can't wait to try it. CBS is my white whale though.

Everyone puts stout in bourbon barrels. I have a fridge full. This is a nice change of pace.

did you live in a cave for the first 4 months of this year? CBS was everywhere at some point.

I drank 2 glasses every day for a week, it's great to live a couple miles from the brewery

Wow pretty harsh, not all of us live within 10 minutes of the brew pub nor can we all plan our lives around the local tap takeover. I missed out this year too, at least my cave has WiFi.

sorry about that, forgot that 95% of BA's are thin skinned. but if you refer to a beer as your 'white whale', it was pretty easily attainable for anyone's schedule.

I live in Oregon, but the closest place that would get CBS IF Founders sent it out here is at least a 6 hour drive. If Founders didn't send any to Oregon, I'd have to drive well over 12 hours or fly somewhere. Even if CBS was my white whale, I sure as hell couldn't afford the trip, nor could I take time off to go get it (being an engineering student doesn't give vacation days).

    Everyone's situation is different.

"As for the origins of Project PAM’s name, it will forever remain a bit of a mystery"

I don't know, I think I figured it out: Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM) http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/naegleria/

I can see why you just went with the acronym though. If true, this beer appears to be infected. However, drinking it should be okay, just don't snort it or this amoeba will eat your brain.

    Cheers!

I have to admit that the maple syrup and the barrel makes this intriguing. .. but what's with all the black IPA's lately??? This does not seem to be a particularly popular style, but it seems like I'm seeing new ones constantly.
