I was offered at 2010 bourbon county brand coffee stout in a trade; any thoughts on this one? I am wondering if this is past peak, or if the coffee presence will have faded dramatically?

    Thanks!

If cellared correctly, the beer itself, will be fine. The coffee has def. faded at this point, and will be closer to regular BCBS...which isn't a bad thing imo.

I just drank the last 2 years of BCBCS together and the coffee was still very present in both compared to normal BCBS which we had on the side as well. Bear in mind, these bottles were stored in a fridge rather than the cellar to maintain the coffee flavor.

Regardless of whether the coffee has faded or not, I can't imagine '10 BCBCS being anything but a delicious beer.

Thanks for the input! The trade offer I have on the table is for a bottle of surly syx, so it's kind of a tough decision for me...

I actually found the coffee in '10 to still be present, but not overpowering. The newer version is way overdone with the coffee for me; although it could be the bean/roast, but I'm no coffee expert.

BCBCS '10 is amazing. I wish I could find more people looking to trade it.

This is quite late and I'm sure you already decided but honestly if you still have more Syx I'd do that trade hands down. If you don't/didn't shoot me the user I'll do it. I personally am contemplating dumping all my Syx as I still am not a fan and just recently got a 2011 BCBCS and Bramble. I was thinking of doing a crazy BC tasting with my 4 years of BCBS and the BCBCS and Bramble, if I could land a 2010 coffee that'd rule

FWIW, the bottles of BCBCS I've had in the last couple months (2010 once and 2011 twice) have all been pretty awful. Nasty green pepper / jalapeno aroma. It was disappointing, because the 2010 I had last November was fantastic. Maybe we've just gotten a string of bad bottles, but I'm personally a little concerned about this beer at this point.

2011 drank great a couple of weeks ago. Plan on finished my 2 other bottles this year though.

Stop drinking the '10 (and '11) and send to me immediately, obviously it has gone bad.

I'm sure this will still taste great and will still have coffee presence. People tend to overthink how much the beer is honestly going to change at this point. It's a COFFEE stout, it's not going to fade that fast.

Hahaha! Syx made two of my friends physically ill, that stuff is no joke even in small doses...
