At an Abrasive launch event in Des Moines on Thursday, I was told by Tara (Surly rep) that Abrasive will be brewed and canned into January. Her words "it's a true seasonal again this year" & last years run was short due to new brewery and canning issues.

I have to say this is still my all time favorite beer. If money was no object (and it aged well) I would buy cases of the stuff.

Just had my first can if the most recent batch.

Wow. Best thing a Surly has done in some time. The fact that Wet is $6 more per 4 pack is a travesty.

It was about the same price as Wet for me. What are they selling it for in IA?

Wet was the same price, if not $1 cheaper, in MN.

Pretty pleased with Abrasive being $15-$16 most places this year instead of $18. Obviously, even cheaper would be better but knocking it down a couple bucks is going in the right direction.

    Edit: bucks not buts

Surly prices seem to fluctuate quite a bit from retailer to retailer. I have read Abrasive being anywhere from $12.50-$18.99 a 4 pack.

$15.99 is standard around here, while large discount stores like Costco and Sams Club are a few dollars less. The cheapest I heard of was Target @ $11.99.

Pricing in Iowa seems to mirror pricing I've seen in Rochester/etc, but there definitely seems like there's another, lower tier of wholesale pricing in effect for the Twin Cities metro. (Which makes sense!)
Even at the lowest margin stores, we're not going to see 12.99-13.99 Abrasive in Iowa unless the store has made a pricing mistake.

Anyways, I'm guessing/hoping this is still well-supplied around Minneapolis? I'm flying into MSP tomorrow and hoping to pick up a couple cans before driving back down to IA. I'm either going to stop at Elevated on Hiawatha, East-Lake Liquor, Minnehaha Lake or Chicago-Lake. Should it be in stock pretty much everywhere? Any tips on where I'd find the best pricing between those stores? Thanks!

Those stores will probably all have it priced similarly (~$16), and I'm sure they will all have it in stock.

Which Target location? Did they have much left?

So you were comparing apples (Iowa pricing) to oranges (MN pricing) to get your $6 difference. I agree that Abrasive is a much superior beer and Wet may be a touch overpriced for not being the quality of Abrasive, but your point of comparison was simply not fair.

Not to make this into a big thing. I'm just happy Abrasive has been plentiful around the cities, is fully carbed, and is tasting great.

The one off of 7 between 169 and 494. I guess they are one of two Target locations where they are testing the idea of having a liquor store attached. I don't have a clue how much is left or if they received more.

Loving the Costco cooler lately in Rochester. $17.99 Darkness, $13.99 Abrasive, $13.99 Wet. Other local stores still have piles of Darkness for $25.99 and Abrasive/Wet for $18.99.

Ordered a case from France44 today. :flushed: I debated whether I should spend the money when I have 8 cans left, but decided it will last me a while. Plus, I rarely order beer online, so I figured what the hell!
