Not too crazy but a couple months after the the original Xocoveza release and it's it's ridiculous surge in popularity, I walked into a random liquor and was amazed to find 7 bombers of it sitting in a fridge. Needless to say, I bought them out lol.

Yesterday I found some Nøgne Ø Red Horizon 2nd edition (from 2012) and Nøgne Ø Black Tokyo Horizon (from 2012 also I think) sitting on the shelves in Oslo. I was amazed, but it appeared the Norwegians weren't as it wasn't really hidden and there were a ton. Bought 3 Red Horizons and 2 Black Tokyo's.

A couple of things, although the first is no big deal. I once found a bottle of Okocim Porter in a closet at my Father-In-Laws house. He didn't even drink beer.

In June, 2014 I sampled Trois Mousquetaires Barleywine Americain at the Montreal International Beer Festival. Absolutely loved it, so I asked the rep if there was any of that release left for sale. He says no. My wife-who knows the ins and outs of Montreal-suggests we try Peluso's, just in case. Sure enough, they had four bottles left. I bought them all. Happy day.

Lastly, my local bottle shop here in China will mark things down if they are not moving quickly enough, apparently unaware of the fact that some beers actually improve with age. I go in just to see what they might be trying to unload. The other day it was Chimay Blue at 50% off. There is usually something good that has been drastically reduced.

Back in '06, I wandered into the sister store of the local to find a single 375ml bottle each of Liefmans Goudenband and Frambozen on the shelf. Thumb the paper away as one does to find they're both '92's. I ask "do you know how old these are?" the guy says "Oh, those are like recent, like a year old, maybe". I say "Do you know when 1992 was?" I got them for $6 each. The Goudie was oxidized but not entirely unpleasant, the Frambozen was fucking amazing.

I return to now find a single 375ml bottle each of the Frambozen and plainly obvious due to its bright red wrapper Kriek. Thumb the paper away as one does to find that the Kriek is a '91. Bought them both for $6. The Frambozen was fucking amazing, the Kriek was very good but not fucking amazing (and their corks were considerably shorter, could they have been eaten away over time? Is that even a thing?)

Went back and bought the 3 cases of the Frambozen and single case of the Kriek that they had sitting on a pallet up in the rafters back there (untouched for what I can only guess was the last dozen+ years) for $4.50 a bottle. And yes, I eventually pinched all the Goudies they had there too.

Although it isn't really a "find" in the sense that I stumbled upon a rare beer in a retail store, I once traded some Heady for a 2014 Parabola, but due to the extreme generosity of a trader not on this sire, I received a 2012, 2013 and a 2014 Parabola all in the box. BINGO!

I bought some "old" bottles of Black Butte XXVI that were marked down to $2.99 the other day.

    Score.

Not that impressive compared to some but a local place was selling BA TenFidy stovepipes for $6.99. They sold out in 2 hours. Usually cost $12-13.

I recently had an amazing find, even though the beer I found is quite common and popular it was new to me. I discovered Fuller's London Pride for $2 a pint bottle, and I absolutely loved it! I also loved their ESB and now I seek out Fullers

A six pack shop I frequent most had Black Note for $6.35 a bottle. They usual have a great selection of average to above average beers. They had no idea they had a whale.

Walked into an Albertson's in Snohomish a couple years back, they had some 2009 and 2011 Pike Place Barleywines at the same price as the 2013's. They no longer had any when I left, sadly Hagen's has taken that place over and screwed it all up.

In the spring of this year, I bought an entire case of 2014 2XMAS by Southern Tier for $10. I still have three bottles I plan on drinking around THIS Christmas.

For those in NJ that want to know where I got that deal, send me a PM.

I've told this story before so I'll keep short. Went into a small liquor store in Morrison, CO one day just to kill time and see what they had. Ended up finding an entire case of current vintage BCBCS tucked away in the macro cooler between Bud and Bud Lite. The guy who ran the store was an older guy who had no idea what it was. I ended up buying 2 four packs (to this day I regret not buying the whole case) and called it a day.

I stopped at a small grocery/carry out shop that I had been in twice in my life, that also sold beer and wine. In the middle of the floor Sat 6-7 cases of Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. Usually priced around $10 a 4 pack, these were going for $4.99 a case. I bought 2 cases (knowing my own libation limitations) and called myself a Lucky for a couple of weeks.

I don't have any great buy examples unfortunately, however, every once in a while I discovery an old bottle (or recently a half case) of a homebrew that I stuck back in my beer closet and forgot about! That counts as a find right?

Hot damn. I was happy when I got a pack of that for like 5.50. A case would be incredible.

Last december when I was in Belgium for a beercation, I just went into a normal turkish owned souvenir shop. It was a heaven. Everything (11oz) they sold were 5€. 3 fonteinen golden blend for 5 euro, hanssens Schaerbeekse kriek for 5€... I grabbed one of each, and now regret not grabbing like 5 of them.
