    Good morning, Beer Advocates.....

    Today is the day and this is the place to RAISE YOUR EDDY FITZ, as a remembrance and memorial to the 40th Anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald on November 10 1975.

    These twenty nine Great Lakes sailors paid the ultimate price doing their jobs on a stormy last run of the season on Lake Superior, carrying iron ore / taconite pellets to steel mills in the Detroit area (ship was ultimately headed to Cleveland to overwinter there, but never made it).

    Raise your Eddy Fitz, or any beer you have available today, to remember and toast these hardy sailors, and as you go about your day today, remember what a gale on Lake Superior in November must have been like for them, and the mighty Edmund Fitzgerald!

    The bell was raised from the wreck, twenty years ago, and will ring today at Whitefish Point, twenty nine times, in memory of the crew who perished.

    Thanks.....as a Great Lakes sailor myself, I can relate to the sacrifice these men and their families made that day, 40 years ago.
