I chuckled at "...pours still by design." The misspelling of "Netherlands" is pretty festive too.

I detected some light carbonation in Putin (thanks for the taste @anteater.) I wonder if carb could increase a bit with time? Bottled AftW variants from the last release were similarly carbed when released, but bottles of each that I have tried in the last few months were pretty well carbonated.

Finally got to try it yesterday. I thought it was pretty tasty, even with the extremely light (at best) carbonation. At least as of yesterday, they were still allowing off site purchases of it ($15 either way - on premise or off site).

On a separate note, for the first time in over a year, the current blue dot is pretty good again. It's been such a long time since I've come across a good batch, that I had a hard time making a proper comparison. Anyway, the current batch is the same slightly cloudy, orange peach color I remember from the "good old days," and there's a considerable amount of apricot and pineapple on the nose and palate. The finish is citrusy and quite bitter. It's actually quite delicious (IMHO - YMMV).

I just sprung for a bottle of Putin tonight. Super bummed on my first couple sips that it was so flat - I could literally pour the bottle vertically into the glass and not get a reaction. BUT by the end of the glass, that aspect had grown on me. It was pretty much a weird chocolaty dessert wine, and I liked it. It's different.

I agree with John. I stopped in for a glass of blue dot and this batch is much better than any of the last few batches I've had. Not even close to what it once was, but I'll take what I can get.

Couldn't agree more. Way better than recent batches, but alas, still not the incredible elixir I recall from years back. Oh well...

So I saw somebody order one of these tonight and there was absolutely carbonation, not exploding by any means, but from my less then a CM initially, and a ring of bubbles that last into the five minute range. Anybody else have any updates with this beer. I only got three, so far I've open one a few months ago and it was flat as wine no bubbles even with aggressive pour.
