I'm looking forward to getting the Sam Adams winter pack this year. 6 different beers, and the winter lager is the only one i am not looking forward to drinking.

Resin, the Crisp, Jammer and something new? Maybe a nice tropical and juicy IPA or pale?

i bought three boomboxes already, would definitely love to see additional variety packs from you guys, perhaps Jammer, The crisp, and a pale ale and a belgian style wheat beer? are you considering brewing entirely new beers for this pack?

    Sierra Nevada
    and
    Odell
.... are two unbeatable choices for the variety packs. Haven't found anything else distro-ed to CO that is equivalent.

Agreed, I happen to like Cali-Belgique more than most.

Ditto. I also like both the Pale Ale 2.0 and the Coffee Milk Stout more than most, at least based on their respective ratings on this site.

Sweetwater just hit distribution in the Philly area. Was going to grab a couple bottles to give them a try when I spotted their 12-pack that contained 5 different beers (3 IPA/DIPA, a pale, and a brown ale) for $23.00. For under $2.00 a bottle I thought it was a great way to see what this brewery is bringing to the table.

Tallgrass has a really cool mixed 4 pack out right now from their explorer series:
    http://tallgrassbeer.com/explorerseries/

It is 1 each of 3 bourbon barrel beers then a can of their imperial stout with chocolate and coffee. I thought it was neat to try all 4 in a simple little 4 pack

Love the stone variety pack. Gave me a chance to try the milk stout without committing to a 6 pack. Now I want a six pack and the other beers are solid.

Somewhat related is anyone getting tired of "variety" packs that are all hop-forward beers. I've been passing a lot of variety packs lately because 3 out of 4 beers will be the following: APA, session IPA, IPA, Belgian-IPA, Red IPA, white/wheat IPA, or an IPL. I like getting variety packs for the variety... shocking, I know.

I got a Yards variety case last night which has Philly Pale Ale, IPA, Brawler, and Love Stout. I'm a fan of all of those beers and it's a good balance of hoppy and malty beers.

If you do want an interesting IPA pack check out Dark Horse's IPA variety. It has the Crooked Tree IPA, and 3 other IPAs that use the same base recipe as Crooked Tree, but with different single hop additions. It's a fun way to learn about different hops.

The Crisp, Jammer, Apollo, and Bengali would be my picks for a summer variety. A gose in a variety pack is unusual, but it would stand out from others on the shelf, and Jammer seems well liked on these forums at least. Victory is the only other brewery I know to put a gose in a variety pack; and I picked one up last summer mostly to try the Kirsch Gose.

Whatever you do it better have The Crisp... that's non-negotiable for me! :grinning:

The Odell variety packs have been mentioned, but are good. I've really liked some of the Left Hand variety packs, although they vary.
And of course, The Great Divide Big Show can be great- it's all beers that are at least 8%. I think it was $28/12 beers, which comes out to $2.33/bottle. In my last one I got 3-Hercules DIPA 3-Showdown Rye IPA 3-Yeti 3-Oatmeal Yeti. Since those are all 4-pack varieties, it's like getting 3 4-packs for just over $9 each, whereas they are normally $12-13.
