Alcoholic Shakes is a great name for a rock band. Cheers!

My BA stouts and BW sit at room temp for 30 minutes before pouring. Strong ales of all styles sit about 20 minutes. Cold is the enemy of high ABV refreshments.

I agree! I will start a Crust Punk band called "Alcoholic Shakes"...since I've been told I play too fast. I just need other alcoholic band members to be on my level.

OK... I tried it. I didn't let the hot water run for long just maybe 15 seconds. Then within another 15 seconds the bottle was cold again though not quite as cold as it started. Did that process once more and the temp was about where I wanted it. It didn't foam any at all and the taste did not seem to be affected.

But... I think I'll take this well-put advice:

I think in situations like this just try it out because someone's good or bad experience may effect your decision and your experience may be different. I wouldn't experiment with whalez bro but with a beer you know well and can determine if the experiment was worth the effort and worth doing again....cheers!

Take your stout of the fridge and drink an IPA in the mean time. Problem solved... :grinning:

I've actually done what Bogart2930 has mentioned. I'll drink an IPA with dinner, bring the Stout out... dessert has been served.

I put bottles/cans of beer from the fridge and submerge them in a glass of warm water all the time to warm quickly. Never had a problem with carbonation or taste and it's a good way to bring the beer temp up if you are impatient or in a hurry.

I prefer to pour into a glass and caress it with my hangs, hug it a little and occasionally sing a little song to it.

I think there is an old punk band called Detox Shakes or something like that. I googled it but all I got was smoothie recipes.

Never tried the water method to warm a beer up. Has anyone tried spinning a warm beer repeatedly in ice to cool it down, quickly? Works great.

If you sing a song by the Red hot Chili peppers it will warm the beer faster. Just science.

Old wine trick, put water in the sink dump ice and salt it real good and then every 20 seconds or so give it a spin. If you have a bucket it works even better

It depends on the style of beer, but I pull from my cellar if I know I'm drinking it soon, then I pour it and sip a few ounces while it's warming. The change in flavor from the warming process is one of my favorite parts about drinking, especially on a beer like a BA stout where the flavors are more masked when cold. It's awesome and I highly recommend slow sipping until it gets to desired temperature.

If you want to warm it a bit more quickly, place it in tap water. Air is not a good heat conductor, but water is. You'll be able to reduce the wait time by more than half.

I simplify this method by half-filling a bowl with hot tap water and letting the beer sit for 2-4 minutes, depending on the style. Fridge-to-glass in 5 minutes tops. The danger is letting the bottle/can sit for too long - it takes longer to re-chill a beer than it does to warm it up!

I like my beer plenty cold, but you could say that the darker the beer, the longer I take to drink it.

I don't have the patience to wait for big ales to warm up.. I have a mini fridge that runs at around 55f... Great for aging beer and to me it's also perfect fridge to glass!
