Odd Side Black Friday Bottle Release

No limit seems crazy to me, as others stated 2 or 3 cases should be more than enough for anyone. Also Hipster is a MUCH more sought after beer than BBA Mayan. I can't wait to hear the stories of people getting shut out while watching hoarders loading 8-10 cases into the back of their truck, and Oddsides saying "we had no idea the demand would be so high" but I guess we will see.

 

Yeah, a lot of people are comparing this to BBIMM, but I think you're right, it's MUCH more sought after. I was able to buy 2 bottles of BBIMM at three separate stores last year, and probably could have bought more at a 4th (insanely overpriced) place like a week after release. On the other hand, to this day I've never even SEEN a bottle of Hipster Brunch. And I seem to remember it trading pretty well too - I tried (not very hard, admittedly) to get just one bottle as part of an ISO and got crickets.

The scenario you lay out is exactly what I'm worried about. I was planning on coming for the release, but I'm coming from across the state and I'm not sure how early I'm going to make it. With no limits, I'm not sure it's going to be worth it for me to drive across the state and risk getting shut out. And clearing so much of the production run at the release makes it less likely the east side of the state will see more than a trickle in distro.

 

After reading this I'm positive Hipster will sell out in 2 hours now. Everyone get there at midnight!

 

I say we petition for a 2 case limit. And where are the Black Note/Black Friday release rumors I been hearing(or starting)?

 

There seemed to be plenty of BBIMM and @Lazhal said there was 3x's the amount of Hipster. If that is correct, there will be plenty to go around.

 

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in a bit. Yes, there is a one bottle limit on morning wood, and we have 24 cases. There is a 4pk limit on hazels nuts, and We have 80 cases. We didn't even sell half of what we bottled of BA Mayan on Halloween, still allowing for 336 cases to see distro. We have never run out of the main release beer on a release day and have a lot more hipster this year. We will have plenty of hipster for the release and whatever is left over will see distro as well. The bar opens at 9am, hipster, BBIMM, a 12% BA barleywine, and our new dry hopped sour will all be on tap, along with 23 other lovley beverages for you to enjoy. I will have guys with dollys helping carry cases out, and some great "hipster" sandwiches being delivered from a local deli. It will be a blast, so I hope to see you there!

Would it make sense to swing by Saturday for the hipster brunch? I'll be in Detroit and can't make it Friday.

I have to think the people walking out with 10 cases of MM were doing exactly that. No knock on MM but i can't imagine someone wanting that much of it.

I've heard that Hipster will be fine just like MM was. And I personally prefer Nuts over both of them, but have no plans to wait in line for it on Friday. Just chill for a little bit and it will be just as plentiful.

 

Exactly my thought process! Now I don't have to worry about leaving around 4:30/5AM to get a chance at some Nuts.

 

People always over estimate the turnout. You will probably be fine getting there at 11:00. I know black Friday is busier for releases but look at Dragontrax release earlier this year on Friday. 600 Bottles of Trax and limit of two Trax. They did not sell out with the initial line and it took several hours, people were walking right up and buying bottles late. If they did not even have 300 people show up for that release, I am thinking 480 will last a while.

 

I'm planning on showing up around noon or 1:00 to alleviate any possibility of any shitshow. Having to drive 3 hours one way from Detroit, i'm really only going for a case of hipster and probably won't score any MW or hazels... If I do, that's a bonus. But with over 1,500 cases I couldn't possibly fathom hipster selling out by the end of the day Friday. Regardless, I'll probably be calling multiple times on the way just to make sure hipster is still there!

 

While you are at it might as well call Bell's General Store to see if they have any Black Note.
