@UCLABrewN84 looks like he is over 1500 reviews so far this year.

I think one of the guys in my tasting group got over 1000 unique ticks last year. He only ticks 8 oz. or bigger pours, or it would have been a LOT more.

As long as they dropped off the Top 250 after you drank them they're still countable.

BTW, how many birds have you ticked this year? I've been a birder for 20+ years but never seriously considered doing a Big Year (not enough time...or money :slight_frown:).

I did my big year last year and am a novice birder got just a tad over 230. Went to Costa Rica and knocked off about 150 and here in Vegas we have a reclaimed water habitat which is good for a few, than did California shore and mountains. I think as I get better and spotting / identifying I would like to really put some effort into it.

My Roger Tory Peterson, A Field Guide to Birds East of the Rockies is tattered and functional. This book was given to me by my now deceased best friend. I have identified hundreds of birds. I love beer and birds, but I love birds better.

Based on my reviews, I've tasted and reviewed at least 264 beers this year. Hoping to step the pace up next year, however, I've gone through phases because sometimes I just want to have a beer and enjoy it.

72 of the current top 250 in 1 year. About 14 more in my fridge. (Like the other guy said, not counting the dozens that fell off that list)
Over 600 total in the past 12 months. I rarely drink a beer I've already had. Its the only way to keep up.

Well yeah. I also know how many women I've slept with. I only keep track of the important facts.

Only read half of first page, skimmed the rest of it, but I think people MAY be confusing "new" beers with "unique". You might have averaged 300 new beers [that you rated/reviewed] in 2 years, but that wasn't the question. Add in beers you didn't rate (i.e. Coors Light, Corona at a wedding) or beers you previously rated (If you had RuinTen in both years, you can count it twice), you're probably close to doubling that. Then add in samples?!? And do you count Enjoy By 4-6 times?? I think most of you are underestimating .

I'd guess with the most liberal of scoring mentioned above, quadruple digits is within grasp for me.

I don't really keep track, but I would guess that I've had 100-150 unique beers each year for the last 10 years at least

I think that's the cycle of birding, too. Windfalls and then droughts.

I knew his would be impressive. I did once find a user whose beer tally surpassed UCLA's number though, with over 10,000 lifetime. I wonder how many he does in a year. Just wish I could remember his user name.

That's very cool. 230 still seems like a ton to me. I hope you get to do your BIG Big Year eventually!

I think you're on the wrong site...

I've been on untappd for 2 years this month and if you split the total in half thats 882 unique brews /year. That doesn't count what I'm drinking now that I had last year, etc or whatever. Lots of beer tasting events and festivals help that number.

Nope right site, been here for a while. Just don't keep lists of the beers I drink. I love beer, but don't see the need to keep track of it. Keeping track of the whales you drink be wine, beer, bourbon or scotch seems to me to be a vanity thing (just my opinion, not casting any judgements on anyone, so don't get all hot and bothered). I see it constantly with people in the wine crowd "look what I drank tonight!" To me its better to share with friends in private and enjoy the beer at the moment. But to each their own. Cheers!

356 new rates for me this year. But some that I've visited again that were rated previously, so I suspect I'm at around 400.

I'd venture to guess that on a yearly basis I fall into the 200-300 range. I don't hit a lot of breweries & steer clear of festivals, hence the middling stats.
This is a cool idea for a thread! & great movie, too :-)

This is what actually got me more into craft than I was. My New Year's resolution was to drink 365 different beers. I didn't go crazy but I hit #365 on halloween of that year and ended up over 400 that year. It's definitely slowed down but but the quality has increased incredibly!

I liked the movie and definitely see the cross over with the 'beer ticking' world. Had I the time and resources I would love to try and combine both by picking up birding...but then one obsession is just about enough probably! I'm up to maybe 230+ unique beers this year. Will probs hit 250 by end of year. Not a great amount but happy enough with the variety.

I joined this site on May 28, 2015 and have 235 unique beers since then. At this pace I'll hit about 475 in a year. Yikes. When you quantify what you drink, kinda seems like a lot.

This activity that you call "beering" has been called "ticking" beer for a long time. Just an FYI if you have never heard of the term or perhaps just me being old school.
