Thanks for the interest Andy. I've sent you a private message. I'll be happy to send one each of most of these your way. i won't sell them, but am happy to give them to you. I'm speaking to several other via private message too, and will try to make everyone as happy as possible.

    Cheers.

I'm pretty sure that I know what beer each of these caps came from, but am unsure on two of them. I can't remember who brewed the La Rousse from the bottom row of the Quebec Micro photo. It may be from a grocery store brand and not a Micro at all. I know that during my college years I drank a lot of beer that was Provigo branded. I'm surprised there are no caps from the beer they had there called Hek as I drank oodles of that stuff when the wallet could afford nothing else!

Also, I believe that the red cap with the gold barley on the top row at the right of the Canadian Regional photo is from Oland Export, but am not entirely sure.

Nice set o' caps! I love that Tennant's Sweetheart stout! If no one's interested in the Canadian versions of the Bud, Bud Light and Coor's Light, I sure would be!

Send me a message. I have multiples of most of the US stuff brewed under license in Quebec. A couple that are singles have already been spoken for.

    Cheers.

I tried to look-up the 2 caps you've referred to in your posting. I found one reference to the La Rousse cap but it had no details - other than the cap is Canadian! This makes me suspect it is not a common cap. I also found a single reference to the red/barley cap which suggested it was a Molson cap....but no details of the brand, sorry.

There were, and are, so many brands in Quebec that simply go by Rousse that I can think of at least 6 breweries that may have produced this one. I thought it might be Brasseurs RJ, but that appears to be incorrect.

The red/barley one: I wonder if it is a different iteration of the Molson Lite cap that was primarily yellow. Perhaps Jockey Club or maybe a later version of the Dow cap. Now I want to know!

    Thanks for your search.

I have written to another collector to see if he knows of the origin of these 2 caps. I will get back to you if I find out more.

It does appear as though the Red/Barley cap is similar to the Molson Special Anniversary caps from 1986. That would be a few years too early for my cap. thanks for looking into it.

I have the red barley cap tagged as Molson Canadian Pale Lager.

Hi, I have uncovered some more detail about the 'La Rousse' cap. It is from Molson O'Keefe. If you access ebay and search for item number.... 231612851252 you will see two images with the same lettering style on a breweriana item related to this product. The item description advises that the name 'La Rousse' means 'Redhead' and refers to a famous Quebec actress, Rose-Alma Ouellette also known by her stage name La Poune. She died in 1996.

The collector I contacted also responded to my query and suggested that the red/barley cap is definitely from Molson but he thought it was a wheat beer (no specific brand name given). To be honest I don't know if the image is that of barley or wheat (shame on me for not knowing the difference).

Thanks for this. The info on La Rousse is starting to ring a bell. I seem to remember Molson coming out with a line of beers to compete with the emerging craft brewers in the Province back in the early 90s. I found a youtube video of one of the ads that I actually remember from the period.

That is interesting about the red/barley/wheat cap. I'm surprised by the wheat beer suggestion. I know that Molson released a Molson Canadian Wheat a few years a ago, but thought that was the first one, other than the Rickards White that has been around for years. the image is similar to the one used in the old Molson Lite logo. I'm starting to think it was used along with heritage labeling that Molson has used several times over the years to mark the anniversary of Molson Export or Molson Canadian.

    Again, thanks for the research!

Here's my BigFoot collection. Here's some interesting BigFoot trivia. 87 and 89 was the only two years they came in dark blue. They did not produce a 96 BigFoot crown and 2014 was the only year that the year extended outside of the foot, which is also the only year the foot faced the left...

Yes, my collection is all unused, never been on the bottle. No I don't work for Sierra Nevada, I live in Western NY...

Nice! I have the same set, only used. In 1996, they used two other caps for Bigfoot that l'm aware of: their stock blue porter cap and a red-on-gold 'FLORIDA" cap, which l display separately. The 1987 is the only one l didn't get to drink! Any chance you have the 2011 champagne-style Bigfoot cap?

Great set of caps - and all unused wow! Some of those early years caps on the top row are at the top of my 'wanted caps' list. I don't suppose you have duplicates to 'swap'?

Sorry, I don't collect the champagne style caps. I have a few that I use as traders but not the Big Foot.

Sorry no early duplicates. I traded them away back in the 80's

Here are a few pix of some "older" caps. These are all cork lined US beer crowns in my collection

I love these caps. I like the simplicity of the designs and also the effective use of just 2 or 3 colours per cap. Nowadays too many caps are simply black/white; black/silver or black/gold. Thanks for sharing the pics.
