Has wearing beer apparel gone too far?

Have probably about 15 different brewery shirts along with a 50 west cap and Yazoo cap. I personally just like seeing others rock the apparel as it is a good way to spark an interesting beer conversation or at least just demonstrates a mutual love of the craft, assuming.

Wow....you're the guy! Congratulations on your passion and style. You rattled that inventory off pretty good. Whatever works for you...enjoy it!

I've occasionally seen them, but I'm guessing that these folks mostly don't run the same circles as us beer drinkers.

I always wear a brewery logo shirt or a hat (and many times both) when visiting breweries or going to beer festivals (although no matched sets since I believe there are certain fashion rules ). By wearing this gear, I'm advertising that I'm a beer geek. I travel a lot and by wearing a shirt or a hat from a well-known brewery from Michigan (or other states) starts some pleasant conversations. I also wear my BA logo hat sometimes to breweries, and I've noticed that brewers and owners approach me to chat about beer (probably curious whether I'm the real BA staff member beer geek since I'm usually taking notes during my beer tasting). To me, it's all a part of the beer culture that I'm enjoying.

P.S. I own 8-10 shirts plus 20+ hats, and if the brewery makes some extra profit from me, well that's all good too.

Well to be fair that is like one Three Floyd's beer.

Yes, and I don't wear any of them. White t-shirts and nice button ups are the shirts I wear. You can pay me if you want my shirt to advertise your product.

It's cool to wear maybe a t-shirt or hat once in a while. I have a few brewery t-shiirts from breweries. I started talking to a guy about beer because I had a Bruery shirt on. I would not wear matching brewery, hat, wrist band unless I worked for the brewery, but like to wear T-shirts to breweries I like and have been to.

I have always felt disconnected from the concept of sporting clothing that tells the world of your likes or interests. I guess I get it if it's your friend's brewery, or your brother is actually in Slayer...

I do however have a tattoo on my forehead that says "Please talk to me, I'm super interesting."

Hat+Shirt is too much. I do however love brewery or festival 3/4 sleeve shirts and own several that I wear regularly.

Nothing drives me crazier than the people who wear the brewery shirt to the same brewery. Its like wearing the bands tshirt to the concert.

Loving all the relatively cool t's available now. My hood river fresh hop fest t is #1 in my rotation followed closely by my SD Toronado shirt.....

If I get it for free I will wear it. Won't buy any logo T from a large company. I do support small local indie bands by buying their shirts when I go to a show, to wear after the show not at the show.

    Enjoy

Someone gave me a Singha shirt in Thailand, but that's the only beer related item of clothing I own.

I can't do it bro. I just can't do it. I see this all the time and just shake my head. Oh well, to each their own, I guess.

thats fine, as ive said wear what you like.
Just remember unless you made those shirts yourself you are still advertising a product of another company it may not be as obvious as a big beer logo but those items have tags, logos branding somewhere on them and you paid money to put them on your body just like Joe Sixpack wearing his Coors Light Tank Top.

I guess I'm "that guy" who enjoys buying brewery apparel and enjoys wearing it. I don't see what the problem is with people wanting to advocate for a brewery they like. I don't think wearing a hat and a shirt are overdoing it, but then again I've never been "too cool" to wear a brewery shirt, hoodie, and hat. I wear clothing related to my interests and if somebody cares what I wear then that's a personal issue they need to resolve...

I have a number of brewery shirts; my mother, who recently got really into beer, keeps buying them and I won another in a raffle along with a pretty solid pint glass. They're all nice shirts, and it's nice having new shirts that my cat hasn't had a chance to poke holes in yet.

Always love this simplistic response to so many reasonable posts/questions here. Why bother discussing anything? Just drink and do what you like. No point in having the forums - just follow that advice. Opinions about beers, positive or negative, are irrelevant, "just drink what you like". Those who keep offering this "wisdom" seem to think they're really giving a profound perspective that nobody else has considered.

It's like cycling stuff for me. If I'm wearing matching kit (lycra), it's because I'm part of the club or team it represents. Similarly, wearing cycling hats anywhere but on a bike is no longer an option because, well...that's been ruined. I wouldn't hesitate to wear a Shimano, Felt or Cannondale T-shirt or hat (of a baseball cap shape) while out and about, but I wouldn't wear them at the same time, and I definitely wouldn't wear matching ones.

I have no issue with people wearing stuff from breweries, even if they just like the design or whatever. It supports the business and gives them advertising (and are we really getting into the 'they used to be good but they're too popular now' territory?). BUT excessive matching is always dorky, and not in an endearing 'I'm a beer geek' way. It's more an 'I have no idea how to dress like a grown-up' way.

By all means, wear your gear and wear it proudly, but remember, it's not footy pajamas. Matching top-to-bottom is not a good look once you're past 4 or 5 years old.

I wear "dumb" or "marketing" stuff all the time. Hogwarts or Game of Thrones shirts, beer shirts, etc. I don't particularly care for fashion, but I like to wear things that signify what I enjoy, because it's a conversation starter. I've yet to find the person who comments on my Michael Kors or Burberry or whatever clothing as someone I want to have a long conversation with, even if I like the clothing itself.
