I doubt it. The keg they sold Dexter's in Madison during GTMW week was supposedly the last one in existence. Can't imagine they had enough of it held back to meet the minimum requirements to pour at FoBAB

TG has never been to FOBAB before so unless there's some information out there to the contrary, I wouldn't hold my breath that they'd be there this year.

I'm guessing something along the lines of a shot of malort (*cringe*), malort cocktail (?), maybe some other Barrel Aged beers....

Even if they did pour it, I can't imagine that would make it more than 20 minutes into the event (if that). That's one of the few beers that might slow the BCBS line.

Your life is definitely not any better for knowing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some people swear by the stuff, but it's mostly a joke here in Chicago. Just a kind of bitter-tasting herbal liquor.

So it's the Windy City's version of Galliano or Chartreuse. Great.

According to Clark from Toppling Goliath, they never got invited to FOBAB

Having just looked both of those up, and the only thing I can say is that Malort is not sweet. If you're coming in for FoBAB, have a shot somewhere! A lot of bars have it. I think it tastes like crap, personally, but it's just the aftertaste that really kills it for me.

Delicious. When you get used to it. I acutally kind of enjoy it now. Plus doing it with first timers is always entertaining as hell. Kinda tastes like what I imagine a cross between band-aids and old wood would taste like.

I've described it as a mixture of cigarette ash, all the herbs from the back of the crisper drawer, and sadness.

    That said, tasty stuff.

This is the nicest possible comparison for Malort ever.

Here's my question, though (unrelated to Malort, sorry):

Stone was at FoBAB last year, pouring Southern Charred from bottles (the year it didn't make it to disty).

What are the odds that they're back this year, pouring Xocoveza: Charred (a beer I hoped they'd make almost as soon as I tasted the original)?

Kind of off topic, but a few of us plan on going to Au Cheval for a burger before the Sat evening session. Is there a wait there around 2:30ish on a Saturday?

About 5 hours most likely, not joking.
