If reg BCBS is $15-20 per bottle I will...

  1. Buy fewer bottles than what I really want

    62.8%
  2. Buy about 3-5 bottles and call it a day

    24.1%
  3. Buy as many bottles I can find still. Price is no object.

    13.1%

I was at a store tonight and was talking with the beer manager about the 2015 bcbs. Last year his store sold reg BCBS bottles for almost $10/bottle and he was speculating the new size bottles may be priced almost $20/bottle. That blew me away but guess shouldn't have come as no surprise. However it made me really think, if it's gonna cost me $15-20 per bottle now, how much would I really want to buy this year? Last year I was set with two 4-packs at $25 each but if it's gonna cost me an arm and leg this year now I don't know what I will do. Anyone else gave this any thought?

For me it will depend on how many varieties my store gets. If gets them all I will probably buy one of each. If it's more limited in style I will get a few of the regular.

I'd love to say 3-5, but no way I'll be lucky enough to find that many.

I think for most people the limiting factor with BCBS is not price, but availability. So I suppose that means there's room for the price too increase further.

Sorry I should've said assuming reg BCBS availability was not an issue as well.

BCBS and it's mates will take a backseat to all the Hardywood insanity that I need to earmark money for.

Love bcbs, not crazy about the 500 ml bottles though. Price insignificant to a point, it's only once a year.

At 15-20 a bottle I won't be picking up any. With so many fairly priced BA stouts available there is no reason to bother with them.

My immediate thought. Time to find a new store.

I'd buy some coffee and regal at that price, but not regular or barleywine. I know a local store that still has 2014 regular and BW on the shelf, so I'd just buy those instead or go for a local BA stout. The highest I'd go for regular would be $12, since then I can get 2, one to have now and one to age, for the price I paid for a 4 pack last year. I'm really hoping to find it at MSRP though.

I have paid 9.99 to 11.99 for a 500 ml bottle in the last 2 weeks. this is a fair price to me compared to several others I have tried in the past.

I need to add that BCBS was my barrel aged stout gateway beer as in the one that convinced me that barrel aged beers are VERY tasty.

That's an insane markup. Shop somewhere that actually values their customers, rather than viewing them as a piggy bank.

I paid 22$ for a 4 pack of 2014 Bourbon County Stout so, 9.99 for a 500 ml bottle is reasonable compared to a 23$ bottle of barrel aged Old Rasputin Stout.

That was $10 for a 12oz bottle last year and $20 for the 500ml this year. That's about twice what you paid last year and twice what the anticipated cost is everywhere else this year.

I think 10$ a bottle isn't horrible . I have paid 25$ for a BA stout that did not come even close to BCBS . Even if it was 20$ it's still not bad . I'll pay 10-15 all day .
