Recently I took part in a bottle release at a Brewery that should remain nameless that resides in Gary, Indiana. This particular brewery advertised a bottle release of their barrel aged stout offering for a couple weeks in advance of this past Friday the 13th. The base beer is pretty good, and a barrel aged version is assumed to be a must have. The allotment was identified as a 3 bottle maximum. When we arrived there was probably 200 people in line. Considering how advertised the release was, we felt good about our chances to get our allotment. Come to find out, they ran out still leaving upwards of 100+ people in line. I was pissed at first thinking, okay, you advertise this release for 2+ weeks as being this big "event" to run out with this many people in line? On top of that, you maintained the 3 bottle allotment the entire time? I get sticking with your advertised process, but wouldn't you think a small brewery that wants to expand would do more to cater to more consumers?

Maybe the bottle allotment was a little high(for what was produced), but you gotta stick with what was advertised. I had no idea that the btl count was so low. Aparantly less than 300 by your estimation. You can only produce so much of a "Limited Release", so you can't blame them for running out. I do, however, feel ya! I was out of state and missed it or I probably would be right there in the same boat. Hopefully you got some on tap and/or know somebody who DID get their hands on it, so you could possibly trade. My 2 cents.

Get there early. That's the fair and honest truth. It's a zoo out there man and you got to be on guard.

Pretty much not nameless if you say it's in Gary, IN.

Get there earlier. It's your fault, not theirs, really.

My philosophy is avoid the shit shows. There is SO much good beer out there, there's no reason to subject yourself to such stresses. Or at the very least stick to releases that allow you to purchase tickets in advance, then at least you know you're guaranteed your allotment and don't waste your time.

Exactly, Gary Indiana, BA version of a decent base beer, Friday the 13th, why don't you come out and say it. As if anyone on this board doesn't know what you're talking about.

I absolutely feel your frustration. No doubt, it pisses me off when other people wait in line for the same shit I want.

Additionally, I hate when bottle shops hoard special releases and don't put them on their sales floor till after a mass-broadcasted release. I'm blessed with the time and funds to pass through a bottle shop whenever I want (no work schedule, etc. restricting me from showing up). Thus, I hate missing out on a decent release, but I also hate fighting all the riff-raff at 10am on a Monday morning for a decent release. Waiting in lines is so 1980s.

Bottle shops: if you get the beer delivered, just put the shit out. Let the chips fall where they may. If it's that good, it'll sell quickly regardless of your marketing or hype-creating.

Exactly. I'm all the way in San Diego and a bottle will literally be brought to my door tomorrow. No waiting in line or anything.

Trading is fine for some....its a hassle for others. I'd rather hunt out what I want, then deal with trading and all that nonsense.

i think it was a 1200 bottle count and only 600 available that day because half went to their club from what i was told... they put out great products and are expanding but if you want something from there you better get in line well before the release time.
