Server Issues & Planned Migration: November 2015

You may have experienced some server downtime, slowness, errors or character encoding issues today. This was due to some unscheduled maintenance by our host that failed.

As of this post, we've managed to stabilize the environment.

Additionally, we're working with them to migrate to a new, more stable, server environment with the latest software. No timeline yet, but some downtime is expected during the process.

I'll post updates when we know more. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

 

Updates:

• Our new server environment has been provisioned.
• Migration is scheduled for this Monday, November 23 @ 6AM PST. We expect minimal downtime and a period of the site being read-only until the migration is complete to help curb data loss.

Morning!

As posted, our server migration will begin at 6AM PST today, however, some portions of the site will be read-only or disabled before this and until the migration is complete. This limited access will begin within the next hour, at which time I'd refrain from trying to post anything.

 

Updates:

• Files and data have been successfully migrated.
• DNS has been migrated, but may take up to 24 hours to fully propagate.
• Server configurations aren't 100% yet. We're actively working on optimizing performance, which may result in service restarts and brief service disruptions.

Several updates were just applied to significantly increase site performance. Things were sluggish for a bit, but it's much more responsive and stable now. We'll continue to monitor performance and apply improvements as need. Thanks for your patience and support.

 

Apologies for the sporadic redirects and server restarts. I had to tweak settings today in order to replicate previous functionality. We're in good shape now.
