Whee! Good morning, BAs! I've moved on from coffee onto...."coffee."

It's a lovely Fall day here, and I've got quite a bit to do. Enjoy your weekend, BAs!

For some reason, this song is stuck in my head. I don't like much rap, but I do love this song.

I've been wanting to try BBB for a long time but it's not easy to find in NJ. Scored a bottle yesterday. I was going to save it for NBS but, like a kid on Christmas morning, I just couldn't wait. This is truly a stout lover's stout! I've got to find some more.

    Let's get this Turkey started!!!

    Fanfare, please-

That's right, it's time for Beer Turkey Day to begin! Inspired by an idea posted by @cavedave , today is the day to break out all of those old, bad, infected and/or scary beers that are just lying around your house and please tell us about them. Let us wallow in each others' misery, while simultaneously being thankful for just how great we all have it the rest of the time. But that's also no reason not to break out just a few overwrought descriptions (if you know what I mean )...

    But wait, there's more:

At 10pm est we will be capping it all off with a simulviewing of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode 903, Pumaman, featuring the inimitable Donald Pleasance. Because what good is a B-Movie Turkey without wisecracking along with a host of others?

Come join us in making today as cheesy as one of J.L.Kraft's wet dreams!!!

    Ably co-hosted by @MUTINY and @Ozzylizard !

See you all throughout the day. Time to get the party started!

Good morning BA. First snow of the season today. Not too much accumulation just yet, but it is working it's way there.

A really delicious pale ale. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate caramel and toasted biscuit maltiness. Moderate pine/grassy bitterness; very smooth finish with balanced creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Grabbed a single of this one earlier this week and will gladly do so again. Very nice hop complexity and balanced maltiness.

This stuff is incredible! Flavors of huge strawberry, vanilla, cream, milk chocolate, cocoa, toffee, toasted oak, and light-moderate bourbon. Super smooth finish with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. I really felt like this one tasted more like actual ice cream than the bast beer because of the additional increased vanilla characteristics from the barrel notes. Glad I grabbed a few more while I still could, but I already bought more of the base beer as well, always love that stuff.

My go-to easy to get BBA stout(in season). I have less than a 4 pack left, but it should be making it's return to the shelf in a few months. Will definitely stock up again at that time. Big robust flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, and light-moderate dark fruit; with a balanced spicy oak/bourbon finish. Really nice presence of oak complexity without overtaking the malts or being too boozy. Nice creamy/silky finish for the modest ABV. Past it's "best by" dating, but still tasting great.

I had Depth Charged earlier this week, so I made a point to try the base beer fresh; as I have not done so in years. I had always thought I liked it more with age, so I had been cellaring the stuff up to 3 years at one point in the past few years. Anyways, this is definitely outstanding stuff! Flavors of huge grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate malts of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted brown bread; with some raisin, plum, fig, cherry dark fruitiness from the malts as well. Big sticky/resinous bitter finish, but still very smooth sipping for the ABV. In comparison to Depth Charged, this is definitely more aggressive on bitterness and hop flavors; but still delicious with well rounded sweet malt complexity in the backbone. I can finally put my opinions to rest on this beer. Fresh up to 1 year of age is preferable. I still have the other 2 bombers from the bastard box to drink, but I am glad I bought it. I hope they keep the Depth Charged going on every year now too.

    Cheers!

OK, my third attempt at posting this in this thread.

I don't drink stouts (Imperial or not) but given how popular this one is with most of you guys here (and how cheaply one can buy it in certain locations in Houston) I thought I should give it a go. While I can appreciate why a stout-enthusiast may like it, I still can't bring myself to drink more than just a few sips.

Pours clear with a crimson blush. Rusts, brick colors and a tinge from brown. Thin tan head that falls too fast to a film
on top. Nose is malty with dark fruits. A ripe fruitiness on a malty rich base. Ginger is on the nose but softly and is
a quirky little brightness. They also used fig and it smells a lot like a fig newton once you know to look for it. Taste
is breaddy sweet and dryish. A bit of alcohol steals the last moments of the finish but it does linger with another try at
the malt complexity. This was flat and would drink better with a few more bubbles. Mild and was pretty easy to drink even with that ting from alcohol. Flat beer is the most common off characteristic that I encounter in buying beer. There is a thread concerning mouthfeel. It's important to this beer because if the beer is flat it can seem like it is made up of
separate parts and not flow smoothly. Depending on the reason, the escaping co2 can also leave you with some oxidation.

Motuhfeel concerns the malt presence on the palate. Soft, creamy, thin, firm, chewy or full. How the malt finishes in the
beer is just as important as how the hops finish. Overall - fruity toasty sweeter because there were no bubbles. Good bitterness helps it to finish quite well and the malt is round.

Good morning BA! In Chicago we got a wet sorta snow overnight. I'm going to have to contend with that sloppy mess on way to another sloppy mess, FoBAB, this afternoon.

I'm not much of an early morning drinker, so this is a delayed post from last night (with apologies to the WBAYDN purists).
