Remember, get the mother-in-law on board. Plan something nice for your wife, get her a spa day or something similar. Then just stockpile brownie points and keep your fingers crossed.

It seems like people want them to sell tickets just because they'll be relieved they'll have a guarantee to get their hands on darkness and not have to spend the night as long as they have a ticket...along with making the crowd and line smaller. I say, the more people the merrier! The night before was the best part. Instead of selling tickets, they should just make more bottles of Darkness. Then everybody is happy. Or at least I am.

    Omar: "Todd, Darkness report?"
Todd: "I'm brewing all we've got, Captain. I don't know how much more we can make!"
Omar: "That's not enough, we need more!"

*This played out much better in my head, then it does actually written out.

If your intent was Capt. Kirk & Scotty, I actually heard Scotty's voice in my head.

If not, then, uh, never mind.

Is it October 26th yet? Looking forward to this! I think everything went pretty smooth last year and I really hope they don't make any changes like tickets or no camping.

Man, I don't even want to think about the State Fair at this point, much less Darkness day.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that they were going to have people setting up no earlier than 6 this year, just kind of a courtesy to the other business around the development.

What a great idea. I hope to make it this year (would be my first Darkness Day); looking at the spreadsheet from last year makes it all the more appealing. If anyone could help me out w/ a couple of questions, though, that would be nice:

    1) is there a point person for the tasting tables who I should contact about what I'll be bringing?
    2) do IP trades occur? (seems like a great opportunity, just wasn't sure if it is generally done)
    3) if a buddy and I come down the night before, can we count on getting ANY sleep, or is it an all night Berlin style party?

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Cheers!

    1) Nope, just show up. The spreadsheet was just for fun, more or less.
    2) Yes.
3). Yes. Although someone posted a rumor that they wouldn't allow camping out this year, but who knows. Last year we went to bed at 12PM & slept until 8AM, but there are those who stayed up all night...but they're a lot younger & more vigorous than I am.

I should clear that up, that's 6p.m. Friday night, not 6a.m. Saturday.

That's pretty decent in my opinion. The businesses are gracious enough to let everyone hang out by their property, the least we can do is to not be there 3 days in advance.

People seem to congregate in particular areas. Towards the front there are a few big tables and a ton of people drinking. As you move farther down the line there are smaller and smaller groups, as well as more people sleeping. It was a pretty good mix of people sleeping and drinking at 3am.

i think this past year that the demand caught people off guard. We got there around 5am and found ourselves way further back than in past years. It's getting crazy. I expect this year to be even more crazy.

I have some Foothills Sexual Chocolate, NE Imperial Stout Trooper, and Cigar City Marshal Zhukov I've been saving. Thinking of coming this year rather than running around to liquor stores on release day.

I have had a table the last three years and have had quite a few people congregate/add to/sample from, and so forth. Dont use spreadsheets, bring a few snacks, bring water, and have the wife bring breakfast the next morning. The MN BA scene is one of the most impressive, and one I am proud to be a part of. That being said, if your from out of town, be friendly and you will more than likely be met with open arms. Its a great event, as long as every one is respectful to the businesses's around the brewery, it should continue to be a great event. If your coming from out of town , and want some advice or someone to bounce off ideas, hit me up, have no issue helping out.
    cheersya
