I am one of the few here that actually likes rebel, but I feel like I never see anything but regular rebel and the session one around. Where's all the variants?

I'll bet this is a good one. Seems like a lot of hate against Sam Adams for no real reason. Try it without prejudice.

I like it and I'll go for it if it's the best craft option on tap or if I need a bang for your buck beer with Rebel Rouser. This makes me think that there will be a Rebel variety pack in the summer, with Regular, Rider, Rouser, Grapefruit, Cascade, and another(not Raw), or maybe a Rebel deconstructed pack. Either way, I definitely can't wait for these other varieties to actually be released.

A single hop cascade? How ground breaking! Hopefully in a decade a single hop Amarillo will be made.

Does every brew have to be 'groundbreaking'?
I've tasted some well hyped 'groundbreaking' brews that probably should have stayed in the ground.:grimacing:

I think Jim Koch would have to find a new type of hop growing inside a dormant volcano to impress today's craft beer consumer.

Cascade, Raw, and Grapefruit haven't been released to the public yet. It is weird that you're not able to find Rouser though. In my area, it sells well but its almost never sold out

I had a taster of the draught Rebel Grapefruit in central Jersey ( Shore Point distro region) on Thursday at a local bar, so kegs at least have been released.

Never had any Rebel IPAs but I am looking forward to Raw and I might give this one a try.

Not much. Over the past 10-15 years, I've given up on spiced and fruit-flavored beers with very few exceptions (say, annual - and often disappointing - purchases of Anchor's OSA), so when I do taste one I know my reaction is usually going be:
    a) I can't taste the _____ at all.
    b) I can barely taste the _____.
    b) The _____ is overwhelming.
Yeah, the brewer can't win with me, but I'm ultimately the loser (save for a situation like this one, where I was offered a taste with both us knowing I wasn't going to buy).

Wasn't very impressed with the regular Rebel IPA, either.

My first thought upon hearing of it's release, was "Ah, I'm sure BBC can probably make a perfectly adequate modern day India Pale Ale."

My first thought upon tasting it was, "Nope, I was wrong."

The other ones were ok, this will probably be the same.

FWIW I have only had the Rebel IPA once; a draft pint while eating lunch at a Chilies restaurant. I thought the beer was OK. There were no technical brewing flaws that I could perceive. It was moderately hoppy with a noticeable malt backbone (the same malt backbone I perceive in a number of Sam Adams beers). Based on this one drinking experience I was not motivated to buy a 6-pack of Rebel IPA but in all fairness I am a pretty picky beer drinker and mostly drink my homebrewed beers when it comes to drinking bottled beer at home.

If I ever see the Grapefruit Rebel on tap I will try one pint (and maybe even a second pint?).

    Cheers!

That makes two of us. I am all for a decent brew that is easy to get and at a fair price. Sam really has nothing to lose with this or the Raw

I love cascade. Beer isn't supposed to make a statement, its just beer. Drink a fresh Liberty ale and see for yourself. I've often heard beer nerds say "________ would have been fantastic in 2010, but now we're past that" as if they were talking about avant garde art or the fashion world.

Plus, Galaxy, Mosaic, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, etc. are just as well known by this point as Cascade or Centennial or Amarillo.

Exactly. My jimmies get very rustled when people go 'Eh 90 Minute was good ten years ago but now it's not'.
