Sounded like there was less regal than rare in the market. They brought so much of the rare they got to SLL I bet they wanted to spread the small amount of regal out to other accounts.

As for the SLL release, cheers to all involved! One of the best-run releases I've ever been to. Had all the makings of a shitshow and it couldn't have gone better.

 

First time hunting for BCBS and the standing in line was super cold but worth it. The release at S Lyndale was, as mentioned before, totally smooth. No drama from the customers, quick and smooth getting people through once the store opened. I tip my hat to the staff/reps there. But the best part was the people in line. I was with 2 friends that are still new to the craft beer scene, and after awhile of talking to the guys just in front of us in line, one of them walks to his car, walks back and hands my buddies a bottle of KBS so they could finally get to try it (I have been lucky enough to have it). The generosity of the craft beer community never ceases to amaze. Cheers to all that made it a great wait this morning!

 

PJ and SLL always does releases in the best way for the consumer year after year release after release

I hear New Bohemia may have on tap? Any locations in the South or East twin cities have on tap or plans?

 

Any Rare still around (east metro), really hard to justify the price but might be willing to bite the bullet

It's pretty well done...a little commercialized, but over all, interesting.

Wasn't able to make it to the zipp's release. Did anyone here make it? Just wondering what they had and what the prices were like.

 

I think Elevated still had rare as of 6 or so, maybe worth a call tomorrow morning.

 

Also some dude, who earlier offered a coffee for a bc snifter (he said he broke his at sll) not only backed out of the trade but then proceeded to try and get me to trade bottles for information on a shop selling BC next week. Serious lol.

 

Just wanted to say thanks to the BA Community here in the metro . This was my first year on the hunt. Got multiple bottles of BCBS and at least 1 of everything except Regal. Did not pay more than standard anywhere (one location slightly less). Got a good tip and gave back at least one. I read some stories about some bad experiences and gouging in other cities - saw none of that here.

 

Best prices go to South Lyndale...below msrp on everything (Also still curious why they had no regal there)!
Worst prices go to Lowry Hill, by far. 16 dollars for regular and 22 for variants. HARD pass when I got to the register on that.

 

On the East side Total Wine was great while MGM disappointed.

 

Was very happy to score a vanilla rye at Marshall Liquors. They opened at 11 and there was a small line of about 15 or 20 people. It was 1 regular & 1 variant of choice. 6 rares, some regal, 3 vanilla & 1 backyard.

 

You must've been just in front of me, person got the last vanilla right ahead of me. Was more than happy to get regal there though!

Also, does anyone have a bottle date or abv stamp on their rare? Mine does not, I thought that was odd.

 

Also very curious if anyone knows where some rare still might be available?

 

North Loop 15+ tax. Wouldn't even sell each of us a bottle and lied that they didn't have coffee when I could clearly see it. Lowry Hill 15+ tax and lied about variants. Passed on both of them.

 

Sids was the same. think it was $8.99 for reg. good prices all around. had two other shops that were $9.49. Costco was $7.99.

i went to the Hennepin Lake release and was going to go to Lowry Hill until i called and heard the price.

 

I had a great time running around during work! Got most of what I wanted, minus more coffee.
Stopped in EP liquor after Cheers Bloomington got there's and was told, "nope, check back tomorrow". As I left wanted to call him out. He straight up lied to me and we both knew it.
Kind of a dbag move.
I also stopped at MGM SLP and they said Tuesday! I don't think they legitimately knew! They said the same thing with Darkness!

SLL was amazing. Must have been the holiday cheer. Everyone was great in line and at the store. People barely complained about the cold!
