For anyone looking in San Diego, Village Spirit Shop in Encinitas has 4 cases on the floor. At $19.99/per, I passed but surely someone will snatch them up soon.

Had it on tap last night at The Pizza Press in Anaheim. Right across from Disneyland. One of the most unexpected places to be drinking the beer. We were the only people drinking it in the whole place, everyone else was just leaving Disneyland with their children having pizza. It will be around for a few days if I had to guess.

That is be exactly how I would describe this iteration as well. What always sold me on this particular beer was that thick body and velvety texture, but the one I opened last night was pretty light and almost spritzy compared to past versions.

Costo is not a licensed alcohol distributor. They are retailing the beer at beer"wholesale" prices. Reselling beer bought at retail is very much illegal.

Some here in San Diego waited all night in the rain outside of KnB to buy Rare for $89.99. So even if you bought the one you found, rest assured....there are ppl that spent a more miserable time to spend more money on a beer that they may very well never even drink but just try to trade away.

I thought it was bad man...I was messaging a few guys down there until the turkey finally took full control and made me pass out. Woke up to pictures of them soaked but holding the box of Rare...then I went back to bed. =P

Like all businesses, they should care about customer satisfaction. But more importantly with Costco, they make their money off of memberships. Costco's beer selection and available helps drive membership. I know its a factor in why I maintain my membership.

In addition, many Costco Members that come in to buy a few beers, also buy other things, driving up overall sales.

Finally, no business wants to have the police show up to have to settle down a poor product release.

    Interesting.

They don't seem to have a problem enforcing minimums. I've had things pulled from the counter because I didn't buy the minimum amount.

You don't need a membership to buy alcohol at Costco.

minimum amounts are a whole lot easier to enforce than maximums.

True, but most people that shop there do have memberships.

And the good beer selection does drive both memberships and unrelated sales.

I should also point out that Costco enforces max limits on many of their "on sale" products. Just look at one of their flyers the next time you are there.

From what I can tell, its all computerized, so its gets flagged at checkout.

That and the entire fact that Costco's business model is "buying in bulk".
