Give me an 8oz pour of it a bar, but I can handle 16.9oz at home when I've got nowhere to drive, etc.

I still consider myself a newb but, I feel that that larger format is too much. Everyone else does it so why don't they? I agree with OP, 8 oz format would be great! With that being said, I picked up a barrel aged Scarface today by Speakeasy and I'm stoked to share it with the wifey!

Beer is for sharing, not drinking alone. If I drink alone, I start talking to my beer and saying odd things to it. "You're such a good little beer, yes you are..."

Heresy. Anything less than 22oz of Bourbon County isn't enough for one person.

You're fine as long as the beer doesn't reply back.

I would actually prefer more beers come in the 16 oz or 500 ml size. 12 oz seems to leave me wanting more, while 22 oz to 750 ml results in choking down the last couple ounces depending on the beer.

I like the 500ml size was not sure if i would like it but i do , to me it lets flavors of this fine brew to open up so much more because it takes longer to drink one over the course of an afternoon , can share this or drink 1 my self , will add though it was nice when you could buy a 4-pk and have 4 different experiences with the stout

I preferred being able to buy a 4 pack, but I would never say the 16.9 is too much. Seems fine to me if I have nowhere to go.

If my wife was a drinker, 16.9 would be perfect to split. For myself, I would prefer 12 oz. Won't complain to loudly though, as I enjoy it!

Let me get this straight. You're complaining about the 16.9 oz for $9.99 and advocating a 22oz bomber at $20ish? Don't ruin this for the rest of us...

No it's not too much. But I really don't drink away from home.

I have zero issue with the pricing on the beer. It's under priced and we ALL know it. I disagree that they had to change the size/bottle get more profit off it. Thus examples of beers going for 20+ or heck plenty of 12oz bottles at or over 10 a bottle.

If they want to charge 200 a bottle they're free to do so. I might pass on it, but I'm not here to complain about pricing.

Were people still selling these in 4 packs? I haven't seen it sold like that in 3-4 years around here. I mean it was great back when I first started buying it that I could get a case or two a year, but it isn't 2006 anymore.

I'm more sad that I am now limited in my "drinking sessions" with this beer. So undoubtedly I may feel some pressure to hype up the product a bit too much.. I used to get a good 8-12 individual drinking sessions with BCBS 12 ozers.. Heck I would willingly give some to friends and family, 12 oz bottles at a time. No love lost. But Now. At just 3 total BCBS bottles obtained this year, it feels I have to spread them out way more. I've had one already. It's up to snuff with years past. But a casual pop of the cap of the next isn't really going to happen. It may be 6 months then a year down the line. The total experience I guess has spread for more to enjoy, but personally, I feel let down. I guess that's the "spoiled" nature of craft as it grows peering its head out.

fyi, $10 500ml equates to about $13 bombers, which is still a bit on the cheaper end. By Next year I expect MSRP to be closer to the $18 bomber range or $14/500ml. That's more in line with almost every other BBA special release out there. Heck, $15/500ml is not far off. That would not be far off from what they have raised the price/oz over the past few years. Percentage wise, this was the biggest jump ever. No reason to believe next won't be even higher. $10 to $15 would be that mark they are looking for

If a drink is one bud light (just going with a standard beer).

    14.3*16.9/12/4.5=4.475 so roughly 4.5 drinks.

So playing with a calculator using that as a the baseline.

    http://bloodalcoholcalculator.org/#LinkURL

A 200 pound man is impaired and can't legally drive after one bottle (no time applied). An hour to drink it. Possibly impaired. A 140 pound female with 2 hours to drink this would be at a 0.112 which is way over the legal limit. So as for why someone would find this a lot.

Just an fyi on the math here.

Let me say the new bottles are dramatic improvement, and I though the old ones were very classy. I have my doubts about the bigger format , but I haven't had one yet. If I'm having a night capper 12 oz is perfect.

have you seen one in person? Not to argue over the bottle, but I have one right infront of me. I can't read the bottle at all. I have light behind me. Nothing else is hard to see but it's not a BRIGHT room. The label I can read....the back I can read. Then you have the flap which I don't really understand but it's there and somewhat readable all be it gold and cream isn't that easy to read from a few feet either. I'm sure a glam shot with professional lighting looks good but even in the store from a distances I couldn't read the bottle, just the label on the neck.

I know it's a gimmick but I'm okay with it. At 13.7% ABV, 16.9 oz. is plenty for me. I agree that it's hard to share at that size.
