    In hindsight it may have been aa fair deal, if you knew what you were getting; I did not.
    This place didn't gouge on anything else, so its possible the case contained that $$ equivalent of beer.

    I like the way my local bottle shop handles it. The everyday customers and those on the mailing list are invited to put their names on a list. Truck chasers who show up on Black Friday add their name to the bottom of the list. The bottles are then distributed to the people on the list on Monday. No lines, no greedy truck chasers and the regulars get their allotment.

    I had the exact same logic. I didn't wait in line quite as long as you did, but it was a fun experience. And in the process, I learned that the local shops can often have just as a good, if not better, allotments with less lines. Overall, I went into it relaxed and had fun talking with other beer friends. Good stuff.

    Your part of the problem, bringing two mules that would have caused two additional people to miss out.

    For that kind of money, I would expect a substantial increase in length, girth, and stamina.

    Went to do my monthly bottle return on Friday. Ended up with a slip for ten bucks and change which just paid for one of the three bottles of regular still kicking on top of the barrel at the Bevy. This is will be my first Bourbon County experience and I was really excited to be at the "right place right time" and to walk away with that pretty bottle . All that said, I don't see myself spending crazy time/money when it rolls around next year.

    Collusion =/= gouging.

    I'm not sure how your point about airlines colluding on prices relates to the fact that there is a reason that the term "gouging" is limited to luxury goods.

    You can collude on the pricing of *any* good/service. You can even collude to keep prices LOW: for example, if two competitors in an industry want to conspire to hurt the market share of the industry leader and collude to keep their prices low to undercut the leader and steal away their market share.

    I think your just human. We all know at most places around the country it's gone by Friday evening or Sat at best, and until next year. Ya know as long as you didn't deprive your kids or miss a bill to pay for the beer so what. You over paid a bit, but obviously you seem to be able to afford it. What I would do is find yourself a regular beer store where you buy your good stuff, and only buy from maybe two places max. Show them loyalty thruout the year they'll remember you at Bcbs time. It's about relationships, build them. My beer stores do not gouge, Rare was pricy but $60 was as cheap as it was going to get, the distributor charged the store $50.

    That's it don't beat your self up, lots of guys use wives and GFs to buy allotments, lots of guys over pay. Enjoy the holidays.

    Oh and at both stores I didn't have to stand in line or wait, they very kindly put some aside for me. These places imo are the best in the area, this time of year is probably a hassle more than a help, but I buy beer there every week all year too. He makes his money off me all year long, not just at Bcbs season.

    Depending on what sour girls are in it that was potentially a really good deal. If it was Halia, Gillian, Juliet, and Lollita that box was significantly under MSRP. Even if it was just matilda and sophie its still a decent deal.

    I think he meant having a shot of whisky or rum right after drinking the beer.

    We to my 5 local shops on Friday starting at 8 am. I only ran into one line at the first shop at 8 (5 people) was able to get single bottle allotment of BCBS, next 3 shops no lines and single bottle allotments procured, last stop was a muni and they had 8 bottles on the shelf, no limit (I grabbed only 2, beer karma). I would have liked to get a coffee or Barleywine, but still have never seen them, oh well I will survive.

    I was expressing some regrets paying $200 (RETAIL) for a 12 pack of regular and a bottle of Rare. I'd have some serious buyers remorse if I paid what you did for TWO bottles of beer.

    I'm not a big beer chaser as I do not have the time and $ to do so. I was fortunate with BCBS that I have a good relationship with my bottle shop and he called and told me he had plenty and he would give me what I wanted (knowing I wasn't the guy would buy a case or something crazy). I bought 7 bottles so I could drink a couple, save a couple, and give a couple away. I also took some beers from another part of the country back to my contact as a way to say thanks.

    I have brought my wife to get two plinys instead of one at a certain store that does one per person.

    No, we haven't ruined BC. The beer is the beer. Consumers who chase and are willing to be ripped off have created their own problem at the retail level.
