I got four tickets for buying the movie ticket, which also came with a free pour of 2014 BCBS. I also bought the other two pours of the two I mentioned. It was Chinese addition style, you put each ticket info a bucket labeled for each beer you wanted and they pulled as tickets as they had bottles for each beer. I was lucky enough to win on half of my tickets. Two friends came with me, one got the coffee variant and the other guy struck out completely.

You're totally contradicting yourself here but whatever. Is it the laws or the fact we don't buy enough Honkers? Make up your mind.

It's the combination of the two - because of the laws, not as many people buy it. When GI went national, people dipped their toes in the water by purchasing them at places like gas stations, grocery stores, anywhere that people could go and buy an 8.99 6 pack of new beer. However in Pennsylvania, when people have to drop $35 on a case of a new beer they've never had before, they don't and so it sees a much smaller impact. I would be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that PA is one of the lowest ranked in sales of GI core brands in the country, thus low case count of BCBS.

got a poor of bcbs @ atlas tnite. It was good. They had it listed as 14.3% ABV. I saw 13.7% on a bottle. Any insight into this? Or just a mistake on their menu?

Had another shitty experience at the MD Waterworks.

Stopped in there last night to grab a sampler pack of beer to take to family. While I was shopping around I had the sampler in hand and was looking in the refrigerated section so see if they had cold 6pks of SN Celebration. I asked my SO if she saw any cold and a neckbeard that was right down the section from me chimed in and said "when you buy craft beer you should try to buy it warm". I gave him a leer and went back to my business of searching for cold beer. He then came closer and continued with "a lot of craft beer is not pasteurized so you should try to find it warm". I responded with "that doesn't really help when I am taking it to a place where they want to immediately consumer it". He wandered off after that. First off, who did he think he is? The craft beer police? Why did he feel the need to involve himself in a situation that didn't involve him? Did he think I looked like I didn't know shit about the product I was shopping for?

As if that wasn't enough shopping fun for one night, I took my selections to the register so I could move along with my evening. The cashier (who I have seen a ton of times and he recognizes me when I shop there) decided he wanted to "one up" the shittheadedness of the customer. I asked about the Dec. 14th rumors about BCBS and he said he hadn't heard anything about it, but he did still have some 120 that a lot of people were asking about. I asked "you still have it? I didn't see it on the shelf". He said "yeah we do, we keep it in the back along with more Fort, Higher Math". I asked him for a bottle which he grabbed for me but then I said "how am I supposed to know that you have these beer if you don't display them?" He said "well people call and ask for it and then we grab it for them". I responded with "well why don't you just display it behind the counter or write it on a list to display at the register?" to which he said "we used to keep them by the growlers but people didn't see them over there" to my bewilderment I responded with "so they can see them better now that they are sitting in your stock room?" I mentioned that they should just handle it like they do at Shadyside where it sits behind the counter and you can control quantities to which he said "that Shadyside store always causing issues" to which I said "yes, because having the best beer selection in the area and informing customers about new products is such a big issue"

Long story short, they have an "insiders" network over there which is pretty clear. I am sure that it is the #1 directive of Giant Eagle for their stores to hide product and not inform customers about new and exciting things.

Maybe its time to switch to just bourbon.

Haha, I didn't even want to get into it with him. The whole thing was mind numbing enough that engaging the neckbeard would have just made things worse.

I hate this shit. Dude approaches a stranger &, without solicitation or cause, starts spouting some random factoid he read somewhere that didn't even apply to the situation in any practical way. Gah.

Your response should have been "Oh, okay. Well, which beer IS pasteurized? How about this one? Yeah, this one looks good" & reached for, like, a Shock Top or something. Oh, the look of disappointment on that poor man's face.

EDIT: You may now be the subject of another thread entitled "Failed Efforts to Help Fellow Customers Understand Craft Beer".

New item in the Advocate store: Trucker Hat, says "Beer Police" detachable neard is optional for a reasonable 4.99 extra.

(Neard is short for neckbeard, for those not in the know )

    Agreed.

My beer irritation or maybe beerritation this past week was hitting astronomical levels. I forgot to mention that at the Caliente BCBS event there was a guy walking around telling people that he had BCBS in his car and was offering to sell bottles for $20 a bottle. Lucky he asked my SO and not me because he would have been greeted with a stern "fuck off".

That was me who sold the bottles after overhearing two guys sitting at the bar drinking BCBS for the first time in their entire life and saying that it was the best beer they've ever tasted and that they were upset they couldn't get bottles. I offered to sell them a 2014 and 2015 BCBS that I had in my car from coming directly to Caliente from Giant Eagle. I sold them BOTH BOTTLES FOR $20 TOTAL. That was the tag price that I paid for at Giant Eagle (after waiting in line for 1.5 hours) - $10.99 for 2015 + $7.49 for 2014.

Unless there was someone else offering to sell bottles. I did not walk up and down the bar asking people if they wanted bottles. I asked the two guys whose conversation I overheard if they wanted to purchase bottles and sold it to them at the exact cost that I paid for.

Yeah, I have no clue where or why this woman thought I "was walking around telling people" that I had BCBS in my car, and that I was heckling people to buy it off me for $20 a pop.

Anyways, charging $20 for a bottle of BCBS would have been a better deal than going to Caliente.

It's not hyerbole to say that me not shaving for a week produces the most pathetic facial hair in the city of Pittsburgh.
