I think 4%-6% lagers are my favourite type of beer. There is enough variety within this range of beer styles that I am always learning, but they all have in common subtlety and restraint. Perfect as an everyday beer.

What lagers do you regularly have in rotation? I have a mental list of favourites, and everytime I go to the LCBO I look through my regulars for whatever is freshest, so I never know what I am going to come out with. What are your everyday lagers that you try to have on hand? My options are limited here in Toronto, but whenever I go to Buffalo I am looking to try new lagers that I cannot get here, so I am interested in hearing the everyday lagers of other beer advocates.

Right now my fridge is full of:

Aecht Schlenkerla Marzen (bottled Oct 2015)
    Hofbrau Original (Sept 16 2015)
Ayinger Oktoberfest (?????!!!*&^% I bought it anyway  since its a seasonal release)
    Pilsner Urquell (Sept 18 2015)
    Anchor Steam (Oct 2015)

I usually try to have Jever Pilsener on hand, but right now the cans all have a best before (15 month shelf life) that indicates they were canned in June.

Ayinger Oktoberfest is fantastic...I just bought another 4-pack yesterday. No problem drinking this outside of the season.

I also like North Coast Scrimshaw...probably my favorite American version, although Prima Pils is up there too. Weihenstephaner Original is in my fridge from time to time, as is Pilsner Urquell. GLBC Dortmunder Gold and Metropolitan Flywheel (best local option, IMO) are also very nice.

I've become a fan of Sierra Nooner. Clean and crisp, it is great with supper. The 12 packs of cans is good on the budget too.

Pretty much Schell's entire lineup, and their Grain Belt line. Love me some Schell's Firebrick. In my opinion, very few breweries come close to making lagers like they do.

If you haven't tried it, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold is a great everyday lager.

I use to drink the shit out of Pilsner Urquell. Once I became interested in trying new beers, which evolved into ticking, it seemed to slip to the wayside. As much as I love imported lagers I seem to go with American versions more often these days. SN Nooner, Sunshine Pils and GL Dortmunder Gold are my staple lagers now.

If you get Von Trapp out of Vermont up in Ontario I highly recommend trying that. I find their lagers to be the closest domestic brewers to their German/Austria/Czech counterparts. Their grain bill is spot on, has that perfect graham cracker/honey/cereal character I've come to love.

Otherwise since we are lumping pilseners into the mix, I see a lot of Rothaus's Tannenzapfle in stores lately so been throwing that into the mix. I used to drink a lot of Konig as well but it has been harder to find as of late.

Also I'm rather fond of Sam's Boston Lager. Cliche, I know, but I think it is underappreciated. Incredible balance, toasty malt notes, and a nice hop finish, as a Masshole its my go-to in restaurants with limited beer menus.

Ol' Republic California Common. Also known as Frontier Amber in bottle format.

I wish they regularly distributed to the Bay Area.

Now that Pilsner Urquell is in brown bottles give it another chance. I only buy it if its within 2 months of bottling. Call me crazy, but I prefer it out of the brown bottle than the can.

I used to drink a lot of PU in cans when I lived in Canada. I was also quite fond of Grolsch in the swing top bottle format. Didn't taste the same to me in cans. Where I've been the last few years, it's been a mixed bag. Singha, Beer Lao, Everest, and Saigon Lager have been the best.

    Anything from Ayinger
    Anything from Weihenstephaner
    Anything from Schlenkerla
throw Pivo Pils in there, too.

It all depends on my mood and the condition.
