First of all, there's no need for name calling. Second, I never said EVERYONE was being a dick-waving humblebragger, but I stated that it seemed, from some of the responses, that some people definitely are. That's not contributing to the thread. Here are just a few that illustrate what I mean:

Like I said, these are but a few of the many posts sprinkled throughout the thread that offer no insight on the OP's question (Are we ruining BCBS?) and serve as nothing more than a broadcast of "Hey look what I got!" Maybe I should have left well enough alone, and I usually do around here, but this annoyed me more than the usual misgivings that can be found on the site. I'm sorry if I offended you, although I can't imagine how as I never singled anyone out.

And lastly, everything has NOT been "pretty positive" here until I showed up. Plenty of name calling, inflammatory posts, talking down to others, and more. Pretty much par for the course on any thread that goes longer than a couple of pages.

It has gotten more popular each year it seems like. My store manage to get 4 cases of BCBS and my manager left it on the truck with the rest of the restock. When I got to work and saw it out in the open, I said to my boss we need to put this in the back or else someone will spot it and start a frenzy. Sure enough, someone came in who said he saw it and was wondering if we were selling it; this was a two days before Black Friday. It is nice to get a few bottles to cellar, so that's where the hunt and fun comes in. I got 3 bottles of BCBS but also snagged a bottle of Brooklyn Black Ops so I am having a good week, but need to save the money for Christmas!!!

    Cheers!

I'm not bothered so much by the long lines, or mules, or the line cutters; it's all the beer/brewery gear people were wearing that turned me off.

ruined? maybe but anything that gains popularity over the years hits its breaking point and its just a matter of time before the breweries start really mass producing.... lets just hope the beer doesn't go to crap.. I wasn't to bothered by lines as i used to collect a lot of sneakers and if anyone is into that scene you know how ridiculous it is.

To answer the OP, it's a good thing that you're appreciating your own regret/doubt about your experience on black Friday. That means you are self-aware and are recognizing a problem that is affecting yourself and potentially those who care about you. In the end, nothing "bad" has happened, which is a great thing. Sure you overpaid and spent your time and family's time, but in the grand scheme of things, that will be forgotten real soon and likely have no negative impact on you or your family whatsoever. Best thing to do is learn. Make different choices next time if you are unhappy with yourself. Or don't, because in the end, you really didn't hurt anyone or do anything wrong. It's your money. It's your family. It's your time. Do as you wish with them.

As for some of the responses to the OP, there are some really obnoxious ones from people doing nothing more than judging or bragging or just trolling. Bragging about your allotment is classless. Judging another BA for being honest and introspective is arrogant and naïve, as is stereotyping that certain "groups" of people are hoarding, or muling, or ruining the craft experience for the rest of the high and mighty judgmentals on here. Just please be a nice and decent person, period. It's really as simple as that.

I applaud the OP for his self-awareness and courage to confide in others. More people could use those qualities.

I've quit chasing beer for the most part, especially ones like these. Now seeing the prices for this year Im glad I did. 25 bucks a 4 was about as much as I was willing to pay for a 4 pack, maybe 30 if I was pushed. 10+ dollars for a bottle of regular and even more for the variants..including 60!!!! dollars for rare is just insane and thats if you can get it at retail..which around here is a challenge.

Forget it they can keep it. Ill take my money, and my time, elsewhere.

You do of course realize that at $10/bottle for 16.9 oz of regular, that it is cheaper per ounce than $30/4 pack of 12 oz bottles, right?

I knew when I saw this topic pop up and given the subject matter that I was going to read some great comments as well as the asinine. I was not disappointed!

If OPs family is anything like most I know, it's the start of a new holiday tradition: Endlessly Reminding Him; "hey, remember that time Billy made us all stand on the sidewalk for hours just so he could buy that beer?".

I really thought that was going to be my best friend. He generally groans at waiting for anything, and waking up early. Thankfully he had a good time and that might be our holiday tradition.

I was able to buy 1 Bourbon County from a local liquor store. I was selected in a raffle so I got to go in yesterday to pick it up for $12. Maybe a few dollars too expensive, but an easy experience to try my first BCBS.

It's not "ruined" but it's not as much fun as it should be.

I realize where I'm at, but sometimes I think I take beer too seriously. At least I wasn't the guy buying cases of it and spending $500 . . . :astonished:

No I didn't actually. Still the price is just part of it. Waiting hours for one bottle. Its just not fun anymore. Chasing was fun..now its just a chore for too little return.

To each his own. I was able to snag a bottle at 1 PM on Friday, and another at 9PM on Saturday. No waiting in line or drama. Only 1 bottle was marked up, an extra $1.00.

Not sure if serious. Surely he makes more money off a weekend hour's worth of sales of Bud Light in Northern Delaware than he will off of the whole world wide distribution of all the variants of this year long project.
