    You want a decent comparison?

Take Parabola before being put in bourbon barrels for a year, add Intelligentsia THEN do a taste test with GJG.

Had a great visit yesterday. Michael behind the bar was the coolest of cats and had the sweet beats pumping. Really wish I could make these visits more regularly.

Really dug the Wake UP. Battleship strong as in the past, loved the BA sour with monkish, both GJGs good, obviously fresher one better... nice avocado toast

I had the BA version of last years, it was decent but thin for my preference. Heard this year's is fuller so I'm excited to try it.

Sure it was BA? I had it on tap last year and it was up there with the best of them... I was very impressed... Perfect on tap.

I don't remember BA GJG being thin. The only knock I can remember is that I wanted more coffee. The base beer is better this time around so I'm excited for the BA version.

On tap the last batch of BA GJG was excellent. I recently opened a bottle and although it was still great it was a little thin for my taste as well. The new batch of non BA GJG is so outstanding on its own I can't wait to see (read: taste) what the barrels will add.

    Next Bottle Release (coming up):

Raised Eyebrows - This beer utilizes passionfruit and guavas from our tree in our parking lot. 100% aged in red wine barrels. The beer is fermented with our house cultures that contain lactobacillus, pediococcus, and brettanomyces. The exotic, ripe qualities of the unique fruit comes through as refreshingly zippy, aromatic, funky, and fun! 4%

1400 bottle release. $15 per bottle (6 bottle limit for Beer Friends)

Company of Parrots - An ode to the colorful and noisy group of parrots that fly over Highland Park Brewery almost every single day! We tried to match their intensity with the creation of this barrel fermented and aggressively hopped farmhouse ale! Huge hop character is bursting out of the glass with amplified tropical fruit notes from the Simcoe, Nelson, and Mosaic. Barrel fermentation and our house mixed culture give background notes of brett funk, oak, and just a tinge of acidity. This is a fun one! 6.8% abv.

600 bottle release, $11 per bottle (3 bottle limit for Beer Friends)

Wonder how quick the sell out will be on the raised eyebrows. 100% barrel aged. Should be delicious. Expensive day for beer today

Living in Glendora at around 6-7 pm the parrots can be heard for miles right above my house. Going to buy this beer because I can definitely relate.

yeah, it's that whole region. I remember waking up in Pasadena to all those squawking birds. Damn Simpson's Nursery for burning down and freeing that plague on the area.

I actually enjoy the parrots, and am happy when they pass by. Although I have some friends in South Pas, and the parrots often sleep in a tree which is just outside their bedroom window. They are less enamored with the parrots than I am.

all I can say is they come around my home in east pasadena once every 2-3 months around 6am and basically wake up my wife and makes the rest of my day a living hell cause she's grumpy.

    It was last night.

Unfortunately the hpb.la website is not current because 2014 GJG was no longer on.
