The Locals HINTS AND HAULS THREAD

Keith is in Grand Rapids. If you don't have a lot of time make sure you go to Founders. It's a cool place and they have had CBS on lately. There are lots of other places in GR that are worth a stop. Perrin is probably my second favorite but it is a bit of a drive from downtown. Brewery Vivant is cool especially if you are into Belgian style beers. Their food is very good. Right across the street from Vivant is a gastro pub called Green Well. Good food and always a good tap list.

 

So excited for my day 6 beer that i forgot to post the ****. Matt killed this one, one of the big wants for me.

 

Hehe. I've never been a barrel society member or had any of the barrel society beers but I do go to Night Shift fairly regularly, so take that as you will. There's a thread or two in the New England forum about it, but if I was going to join a society/club that required a proxy it wouldn't be Night Shift.

Yes. No idea. I had delusions of grandeur when I signed up to go a couple times but haven't gone yet or solidly even locked up a trustee though I've got an iron or two in the fire. Their stuff seems to be good to kinda good from what I've had.

Holy shit @whyteboy003. When you said a $50 bottle I was so confused as to what it could be. Bottle of the round?!

Not a member but the general consensus is the beers are VERY hit or miss, with a bit more of the miss.

Herb and Tim offered to drink these on my behalf, I said no. I have wanted day 5 for so long and gave up trying to find it!! And day 6 is an old always favorite. (Actually one of herbs favorite beers and he already tried to plead w me to drink them with out me)

This has been such a great round, sooooo many great beers for all.

I'll be here. Founders likely won't have CBS but we can start there, walk over to Hop Cat and maybe Bob's or Brewery Vivant.

 

Greg, my friend Tim and I did it last year and all three of us did not rejoin. I love nightshift, found the society to be the most disappointing bottles they have ever made. But I do have a whole extra set of bottles for trade :/

So I came home to a damn ninja attack! They must have karate chopped the box because it looked like someone punched right through one side.


Luckily @jawas packed like a champ and held those ninjas at bay. Great box, although my photo cut off the top beer in the pyramid.

I too frequent nightshift often. And almost everytime i can say that the beer available to society members only would probably be my last choice to purchase.

Like many said, its a very hit or miss brewery. But the environment makes it worth going every time.
