And now for the (not so) long-awaited announcement...

Is anyone up for a new BIF?

Last night, Nick @PA-Michigander mentioned his disdain for hoarding and cellaring beers. He suggested that someone post three quality beers (the kind we might all be inclined to stash away) and let the LOCALS community decide which one we have to drink. I like this idea a lot. (I also missed out on the six days of Turkey, so I’m itching to get back into the mix.)

But, I thought that I might put a bit of a twist on his idea.

This is where the “Murder, Marry, Screw” game comes in. You know, that game where someone names three people and you have to decide who you will marry, murder, and screw from the group—all in good fun of course.

Well, here is my idea. I’m going to post three beers, and you have to decide which beer I will murder (dome), which beer you will marry (receive), and which beer you will use to “screw” (ninja) another local...

Here’s the plan. Of the three beers below, decide

1. which beer I should drink (murder)
2. which beer you want to receive from me (marry)
3. and which beer you want me to send to someone else (screw) (Do NOT post the name of the BA that you want to screw, just the beer.

Quote this post and respond by listing your “Murder, Marry, and Screw” selections in your post. At a predetermined time, I will take all of the entrants, place them into a random generator, and select a winning list. I will notify you via BM that you are the winner so that we can make arrangements.

Of course, there are a few rules that you must agree to if you want in.

Hard Rules (required)
1. This BIF is open to any LOCAL who has participated in a LOCALs BIF or offered up a LOCALs LIF, or other BAs as determined by the BIF leader
2. By entering, you are agreeing to run your own “Murder, Marry, Screw” round in the LOCALS forum within a reasonable time frame after “marrying” your beer.
3. You will offer up three quality beers that you would wish to receive—beers should be desirable, but DO NOT need to be whales.
3.5. No "send-backsies,"--unlike traveling boxes, a LOCAL may enter multiple rounds of the "MMS BIF," just not the round immediately following his/her round. (Does that make sense? --No Revenge rounds...)

Soft Rules (recommended)
4. I will drink the beer that you are murdering me with as I pack the two boxes to be sent out. **** should be posted.
5. You will drink the beer that you have “married” within a week (or two) of receiving it and post ****.
6. Extras are not required, should not be expected, but (because, after all, we are LOCALS) should not be a surprise either...


Since this is a brand new BIF, and I have been drinking, I may adjust the rules based on your feedback BEFORE the winner is selected. I will take entries until noon (12:00 p.m.) this Saturday, 12/5.

Man I had a blast last night getting wasted with @valrxman and @rspauldi (and his wife who loves bourbon beers [the more bourbon the better]) We enjoyed some great beers that mostly came from Locals but the beer didn't compare to the awesome time we had! Shit, we didn't leaves Dennys til damn near 1am (and I had to be up at 5:30). Needless to say, I was still a lil buzzed when I woke up, which is the best cause you avoid the whole headache thing!

I think we're missing the crowler of white oak Jose Marti and the Pear Bear.

Well I hope you got the note I packed- I saw you rated one of your Turkey Sixer beers a .5 because you got a bad bottle and I just couldn't let that stand. I was really wanting to put Yellow Rose in that box too, but was not available locally when I packed it up. And I just had to fill up the space in the box (which is the box they pack BLiS in). No need to return fire, I owed you. Enjoy!

Rule update #2 (damn--maybe I should have thought this through just a little more...)

Soft Rule #7 (recommended)
7. the "screwed" BA (receiver of the ninja box) is encouraged to drink(/share) the ninja'd bottle and post a #VBS toasting the LOCAL who "screwed" him or her.

So, the rules look like this now. I'm pretty sure this won't result in any rescinded entries...

I did get the note and appreciate the gesture. Not your fault bad bottles happen which is why I didn't mention it on the thread.
