Unfortunately we had to clean up some of this thread.

Again, we're looking for your input on creating a Beer Trading 101 guide, not your thoughts on not being able to reply to ISO:FT posts now or your inane replies to what someone else said.

Ideas. Focus, or move one. Thanks.

I think some really good advice would be for noobs to pick up a couple styro shippers. Since they will be sending first, they can have them sent back to them. Bottles won't be in jeopardy.

I think that adding a feedback to profile would greatly help, and have the feedback linked to the FT listing that was posted(that way no fake feedback is made).

This idea has already be discussed and something we're considering, but we're looking for ideas for a Beer Trading 101 guide in this thread.

That's actually a pretty good idea, although it would constrain the trading partner to sending as many bottles as they receive. That might be more along the lines of a suggestion you make when trading with a newbie.

On the topic of tape on bubble wrap, has no one else thought enough to wrap newspaper around the bubble wrap before taping?

    Best of both worlds.

    Was going to say this.

Also, first time I've seen the whole 'don't tape your bubble-wrap' statement...whats the story there? Other than its a pain to get off/re-use & it might damage the label of the bottle (if you're into collecting them)...

pretty sure it's solely about reuse of the packing material.

reuse/recycle is a noble thing, but people need to remember that they're trading beer, not packing material. if you feel "tape is not necessary," and your trading partner disagrees... you really want to make an issue about it? it's that important? if you're that passionate about conservation, reuse the taped bubble wrap in another way.

"Winning" the trade, means sending a better box than the other guy, not the other way around.

Write in full sentences and in a courteous tone when talking with a potential trader. Trading beer isn't ordering beer.

I'll repost here what I said yesterday in another thread with regards to negligent traders:

I propose a new "guideline" - 30 days after an agreed upon trade shipping date, you out the person. Period, no questions asked. *Crazy* extenuating circumstances aside, after 30 days, how many trades actually get done without public shaming? And in the event of those extreme rare cases where it is justified, the person can easily explain the issue to the community, and should respect the fact that these kinds of standards are in place for the good of the community.

As I learned from the Swuntly who cried wolf, there is no limit as to how low people will stoop to try to weasel out of a trade.

With the new ISO/FT format it should be the OPs responsibility to delete the thread once the trade has been complete. This reduces clutter and confusion by letting everyone know the trade is not open anymore (since posting to the thread is not allowed anymore).
