Because I believe in paying it forward...

Silver Glen liquors in Silverlake (on Glendale Blvd.) had BCBS regular in their fridge today with no limits for $15 a piece. Do with that whatever you want.

Managed to snag one from one of my buddies out there. Funny how the "rare" was actually kind of less rare than the coffee and regal rye.

this isn't my usual style but i'm still a bit annoyed. in the last day or so, at least two local Whole Foods locations received Rare. both locations refused to release any of the bottles. both later claimed they will use the cases they received for special events [on premise only].

i won't bore with all the details & lies suffered to arrive at the final conclusion but wonder collectively what enthusiasts here think? for me, i've been a loyal customer & won't fuck with the Whole Foods locations going forward ~ maybe not the company at all. i know the two to 3 grand i've spent per year in beers, organic lunches, groceries etc. won't put them in a listening mood. isn't so much that they're possibly being chickenshit, holding product for themselves/friends, it's more that i gave them a fair chance, they flat out lied & in weak fashion, looking stupid, stumbling through awkward explanations while denying loyal customers a fair shake.

and while above i saw someone state "Castro" Whole Foods - i don't believe there is a "Castro" location. hats off to the Market St. location (which is not far from Castro St) for putting product out + @ very fair pricing. as for the other couple of San Francisco locations. fuck you very much!

As much as people (to my dismay) take paid societies as a ticket to non-stop bitch (I am looking at you Bruery members), this is the exact reason I am so happy to be involved with both Bruery HS and now Modem Tones (LPGEP). More than a couple of times I have hopped in the car after seeing an Instagram post only to arrive at a location ~10 minutes later to either get the lie "oh we didn't get that one. We already sold it all (in 10 mins). Or the oh, we are saving that for locals/events (read: ourselves).

Even Lost Abbey handles it better with their tricky sales platform. I am pretty sure once I start getting my modern-times fix on the regular, I'll rarely ever step inside a bottle shop with any intent again (though I'll browse when I am in WF for whatever reason).

I hate that they hold beer back, or even if it is technically for sale, they keep it in the back. I think everything should go out on the shelf and just enforce limits...there is nothing I hate more than asking for a beer like street beggar.

Anyways, one night I went to Whole Foods before closing to "beg" for beer and there was nobody in the beer/cheese department. SO, I just walked into the back where I had always seen them venture whenever I asked for something, and it was ridiculous the sights I saw, lol. I saw every limited Firestone release from the past years (2 vintages of Parabola), Pliny and all the RR sours, AND fresh Nelson and Duet. I said fuck it, grabbed 1 each of what I wanted, walked to the front and paid.

I grew up in a family in which everyone worked for supermarkets. IMO, WholeFoods is too corporate to treat product/customers this way.

WF West Hollywood had it as well. I got the last two bottles that were sitting out. Same price.

If you're in south OC, Monarch Beach Market may still have some reg left. Bought a bottle about half hour ago, had to ask for it...

Bevmo in antioch/brentwood has tons of BCBS right now, asked them about it and apparently there was some kind of a big mixup in their allotment, they got 3 or 4 cases for black friday that sold out in minutes with a 2 bottle limit, and had no plans to get any more, then the other day 20+ cases arrived out of nowhere, and they're not allowed to advertise or anything since they're a chain and they're the only store that got these cases (they said they can't do location specific ads or anything), so they're relying on word of mouth to move it, and they have NO LIMIT. I picked up 2 cases last night, they have tons left, so if you're out here and you're looking, it's there, by the front register.

Hopefully I can use a couple of these to get myself a coffee, or barleywine... I just want one :slight_frown:

For L.A. BA's, the Silverlake Gelsons has regular BCBS for $10.99/btl. Just happened to be shopping there anyway and picked up three.

Were they in the cooler? Was just there last night and I didn't see any. How much left was there, might try and stop by as soon as I get out of class.
