Mint and Chocolate can be a great combination in candy/cake, but I haven't had many successful beers with these strong flavors. Shipyard Mint Chocolate Stout was a drain pour for me. Going to be getting a Temptress with Mint (to which I am looking forward). Any beers that have successfully paired these flavors?

Odd Side Mokka Munt might be something to try.

Only one I've had was Perennial's 17 Mint Chocolate Stout. From an old note I have, it had a decent mouthfeel and was pretty smooth, but was rather sweet. Probably not something I'd drink a ton of, but that's more of a palate thing on my end.

Olvalde Farm & Brewing Company From Field and Fen is a Belgian leaning interpretation with a light tartness on the finish that works surprisingly well

Satan's bake sale from Spring House is pretty good.

Give Ken Schnidt Chocolate Mint Stout a try. I didn't like it as much as some friends did, but it definitely wasn't a drain pour.

DFH did a draft only Black and red a few years ago. I really liked it....

I recall this collaboration being one of the better ones (pretty good). Of course it's been 3+ years since I've had the Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout.

Kane did a Mint Chocolate Chip Port Omna variant

Not sure what the distribution range is on this one or if you can source it in NH, but I just tried it this past Friday and thought it was fantastic--my first experience with a mint chocolate stout. Obviously, the name is a play on the Girl Scouts cookie "Thin Mint". Lakewood is out of Garland, Texas.

Perennial Artisan Ales' 17 mint chocolate stout is like a liquid thin mint cookie. It's killer.

I have had a couple one offs from local breweries that were good. Not good beers but good chilled hot chocolate. Very sweet and more like liquid candy. They were good but about 6 ounces was enough.

Another vote for Spring House Satan's Bake Sale as it is one of my favorite winter releases, and I enjoy Perennial 17 a lot, too. I totally understand why some people don't like them.

    Eagerly awaiting Peppermint VaS...

Who makes "Yuck"? Does it come in a barrel aged version as well? :grinning:

Oddside also makes Java Mint and Two Brothers Peppermint Bark Porter. But neither fully get the mint right IMHO

I third Oddside Mokka Munt. The barrel influence helps bring out the chocolate in the beer. And the mint is perfect.

Oddside also has Java Chip Mint Stout that is also pretty good. It's lower abv and is not aged in bourbon barrels but it's also pretty good.

I don't know how they do it but Oddside gets more chocolate out of their stouts than most other brewers. I dig that.
