Convenience and road traffic will be changing shortly with the Canton opening.

It's Trillium for me. I just can't justify standing in the lines at TH, unless it is for Green, which is by far their best brew, IMO.

Agreed. Or Julius vs Fort Point ($8/25.4 oz). Not that this should surprise anyone really. Trillium brews at ground zero of one of the hottest real estate markets in the country, where a 200 sf condo sells in 10 min for like $500k; TH brews in a town where you could probably trade a 4-pack of King J for a house. Cost of doing business must be worlds higher for Trillium until Canton is fully functional.

Just a guess: I think Trillium said they will brew smaller batch experimental stuff out of Boston while regular catalog will be out of Canton? If so, I think there's some chance they could move to cans and price/ounce could drop a little--maybe $4.50/16 oz can?--while the small batch boutique beers could go up in price to offset that? IDK, just talking out of my ass here...

3 60bbl canning runs this week and 5 different beers on tap at treehouse. And I can get samples at treehouse you can't at trillium. And the price nonsense I don't have to pay 15 to 30 bucks to park to get trillium

If you are paying 15-30 dollars to park to get trillium you are doing it wrong. I personally prefer treehouse because the beers taste better to me and there is a wider range of styles in general. I love trillium as well but if I had to choose... Luckily I dont.

When you check the web site after they've closed for the week, you'll find they've often sold all their beer.

    It happens quite regularly.

I posted that before their listed closing time on Saturday. I even ran into Trillium later on that night for a bottle of Melcher St. I'm tired of standing in line or having to get somewhere at a special time for IPAs.

I live nearly the exact same distance from Trillium, Treehouse, Hill Farmstead and the nearest VT store that has HT and SOS on Saturday mornings with no lines. There's no way I could choose between them. They're all kickass fantastic. For the most part, I just take turns.

But the lines at TH are a serious downer.

Trillium hasn't really ruined anything for me (ok, except maybe my ability to enjoy most on tap and off the shelf beer). I do wish I could get there more than once a month or so, so I didn't have that urge to buy more beer than I can really drink or fit in my fridge every time I manage to get there. I used to work in that area and there was NOTHING there. Now it's like a food and drink wonderland in that area. We used to get out of work at 6 and have to choke down blue moons at the blue wave cafe because nothing else was open except lucky's.

I enjoy both TH & Trillium but I've never had a less than world class beer from TH, that can definitely not be said about Trillium. What Nate & co are doing down in Monson is pretty damn special and all evidence points to that.

I can't speak for the other beers, but with regards to Julius, Nate has mentioned that he likes it best in its raw form:

My personal preference is super fresh, raw Julius. It's pretty intense with citrus rind flavors and a pure hop bag aroma. . . It absolutely evolves after a period of acclimatization in the can/growler. Generally, it hits a super juicy peak phase from about 5 -30 days old. Beyond that, it begins to get more sweet fruit character as the hops fade and the malts comes out a bit.

Can't knock him for selling it how he likes it.

It's the smell. I mean, I don't even so much want to drink it as just rest my chin on the glass and take a nap with it.

I actually haven't had Tree house yet and I know I need to make the trip there at some point but I'm currently in grad school and taking Saturday classes which have really killed me in my attempt to go try new stuff. With that said I also need to make it up to Hill Farmstead. Every brewery that I've been to in Vermont tells me that not only is the beer worth it but the drive is pretty great.

As for Trillium. I'm struggling with them. I work less than a mile from the Boston brewery and they release beer so often that I find I need to hold off on some of their good stuff because I go there too often. It truly kills my bank account. Especially after my recent trip to Vermont to stock up on their beers. Trillium is great but I hate spending $13 per bottle when I want to buy 12.

First off... If you do a bit of planning Treehouse lines aren't bad. I got Thursday after work and typically I can be in and out in 5 min for cans only and 20 minutes if I am picking up growlers. I would spend more time looking for parking around Trillium, not to mention rush hour traffic into Boston. Yes Treehouse can be busy when hot ticks are on "Good Morning or King J" but what world class brewery isn't? I have seen ludicrous lines at Trillium for special releases too. Treehouse is also more popular gentlemen. They sell out cause there product is amazing. And they do that in an area where nobody is really local. They care about there customers and the staff at Treehouse is consistently killing it.

Oh and when has Treehouse been closed for a week? Not in the last 2 years... lol. Cans Wednesday. Growlers and Cans Thursday-Saturday. Been that way for a while now (Wednesday Cans is a recent add).

What world class coffee beers does Trillium do BTW? Treehouse does 3.

I love Trillium. Awesome brewery great people. But I can love more than one local brewery with out bashing another for no real reason.

Oh and finding a meter or having a friend wait in the car is a ludicrous suggestion. lol
