Didn't like Sobre? I thought it was really tasty.

I thought it was good, but a bit overhyped. I only had it on tap at the brewpub though. Haven't tried the bottled version. I'm going to age mine for a bit before opening though, based on the draft.

Sobre is probably my favorite brew they have released in the past year or two (including La Roja GR). I would say de Viento comes in third.

Hate to play this card and hate to toe the trolling line, but I think sour beer people really liked Sobre (I fucking loved it). There were similar mixed reviews to Lupulo and Bambic. Personally I thought Lupulo was the best he's ever made.

Bambic blend 2 is REALLY tart and sour right now. Tasting beautiful.

I had this on draft and did not care for it at all. The flavor combination just didn't work for me.

I'm a huge sour fan, and that was my issue with Sobre. The draft I had wasn't sour enough. And I thought the cherry flavor definitely fell flat. I've heard there is a difference between how the keg and bottle have aged so far. So I'm hoping the bottled version is much better.

I still have a 750 of Bambic, but I believe it's the first blend. That's the last of it for me.

I've had the bottle and draft Sobre and didn't find much of a difference. I would say pretty much all of the JP beers excluding the grand reserve's aren't teeth-chattering sour, they're just really drinkable, subtle American sours. If you're looking for over-the-top tartness, than JP in general may not be for you.

No, I love JP in general. I haven't been lucky enough to try any of the Grand Reservas (or the Lupulo), but their more sour offerings tend to be my favorites (Biere de Mars, La Roja, aged Modrugada). I'm just saying that I saw a few people that posted it being better than many of the Grand Reservas, so that hyped it up for me, which is in itself unfair. Just saying that it was very good, just not the best JP I've had, IMO.

Get your hands on a 2010 blend 1 Biere de Mars if you like their more sour stuff. It has a nice bright acidity to it.

I have to agree. I was expecting more fruit notes and sourness than the sobre delivered. Especially for the price tag. I love JP, but personally Id take La Roja and Calabazas over this all day. :flushed:

Seriously? That's pretty high praise. As I stated earlier in the thread I couldn't see these components working together. I guess I was expecting people to say it was interesting and definitely worth a try. This glowing feedback was a lot more than I had expected.

Had this on tap a few times over the last month or two and I enjoyed it. The coffee in the nose was great and I felt the taste balanced pretty well with the coffee at the front and sour at the end. Worth a try for sure.

the Sobro in the bottle has aged pretty well I think. I had one a coupe weeks ago and I thought it was fantastic. Was it a sour bomb like some of the other beers out there? No, but it was plenty sour enough for my sour fix. It was expensive for what it is though. Id like t try some La Roja though as I'm thinking it may compare a lot to that.

I love the sour stuff and love JP so Ill have to seek out some of their more sour offerings.

Had it on tap a while back, it had a strange taste that I can only describe as sour tobacco. Wouldn't buy a bottle of it but it's worth trying.

Most probably know this already, but I thought it worth mentioning. If you're at all interested, I encourage you to purchase a bottle, even if, only for this reason:

"The company will be releasing a new beer called De Viento with all proceeds going to the relief effort)." This is for Tornado Victims and the relief effort in Dexter. per Beer Pulse.
