Once again we have the lame and tired "drink what you like" refrain. With that simplistic attitude we might as well close down BeerAdvocate. No point in having an opinion about beer, just "drink what you like". Forget any discussions - "drink what you like". Oh, and be sure to "respect those who drink what you don't" by never disagreeing with them or offering other options. Thanks for your wisdom.

I think this is the first time anyone has been upset with "drink what you like". Of course you can discuss anything you want. Disagree and offer any opinion about any beer that you want. Tell people they like shitty beer if it makes you happy. But at the end of the day, of course it's going to boil down to eh, to each his own. What other option is there besides changing everyone's mind that doesn't agree with you?

I do the craziest thing when I'm served a beer too cold:

I let it warm up, and I don't get my panties in a knot about it.

Most of the beer I had in Thailand (Chang and Singha) was served over ice. In retrospect, it wasn't all that bad.

Well, I think we can all agree that none of us are missing anything by not drinking with you. Lol. Your mentality is just splendid.

At least we share similar sentiments, I as well, am glad I am not you. Cheers!

Yes, you will usually get an ice bucket with your beer in bars. I lived on the Gulf of Thailand in a small town with only a few bar on the ocean, but they did always bring ice with the beer. It warms up way to quickly outdoors in that climate without the ice. There is a beer brewed in Thailand called Federbrau, which is very similar to Heineken. I kind of liked it, but never saw it in bars where I lived, only in the 7-11.

I prefer my stouts 45-55 degrees. As for ice cold beers, there is something refreshing about a frozen mug and an ice cold light beer in the summer.

I have to say, I just can't do cheap crappy beer anymore (frozen or not). They taste awful to me, no matter how cold I can't stand them. I'm the same way with coffee, chocolate and a few other things now. If it's cheap and shitty, I don't usually care for it (as opposed to cheap and tasty). I went for the $1 Ikea breakfast not to long ago, and I think they over charge for the shite they serve. This is just where I'm at, beer is the same for me. Now, if I feel like an easy drinker, happy to grab a Sam Adams, or Fremont Summer Ale, or a HUB Totally Radler, or something to that effect. Not all beers have to be complicated to be good, I get that and appreciate it.

Now, take a marco rice lager and throw a little lemonade or Sam Pellegrino Pompello in there and you can at least convert it into a quaff-able radler (this is my crap beer emergency strategy, very important for a beer geek). For those who still drink some of the macro rice lagers, I mean I'm not going to judge you on what you drink, it's simply just not something I'm into anymore and I think we can both be cool with that.

I like light subtle pale lagers a lot, I drink them more than anything else, but I would take a Helles or Pilsner over a light AAL every time.

Of course Coors Light has to be ice cold - how else are you going to enjoy it in a hot shower?

I was kind of frustrated at Portland's Holiday Ale Fest this past weekend, especially early on. I think a lot of the kegs were super-cold, so there were many big stouts, barleywines, and other 10+% beers that definitely lost something by being frigid. And since it's a busy fest, there isn't really much time to try and let the beer warm up.

I like big beers like that at cellar temp like most everyone else has already said. And yeah, lighter beers cool to cold.

"Room temperature" in beer and wine circles is an expression dating from the days of largely unheated houses.A couple of rooms with fireplaces , that's all. Cool but not cold.

I find that Orval tastes and smells like vinegar at 42º F.
Let it warm up to 58º F and it becomes the great beer it's known to be.
It took me a couple of tries to figure that one out.
