I haven't heard anything for a long time on this experiment, nor see cans fresher than August in my locals...has anyone had this recently?

Let's try and keep things civil so this doesn't get added to the pile of deleted threads.

Like the OP I'm genuinely curious about the results of this experiment. It hasn't gone over particularly well around here obviously, which is perhaps a bad sign since this place would seem to be the prime demographic for something like LH. But there's a wider world out there which might be reacting completely differently for all I know.

I haven't had Boom Sauce in a while but did try a second can of "Steal this Can" recently and still found it had an unpleasant aftertaste that was a deal breaker for me. And I do see older cans around in the 3 or 4 stores I frequent. I've been meaning to get back to the brewery to check out the whole lineup again but haven't managed to get back there yet.

ETA: like @Justin42 I think Consolation Prize is their best beer as well but have never seen it in cans.

I thought Consolation Prize was pretty good and Boom Sauce showed a fair amount of promise. I'd pick either up again if I saw a fresh can, but I haven't seen Consolation Prize since the initial drop and see nothing but 2+ month old Boom Sauce in stores. Fort Point Market even tweeted a complaint a week or so ago that Craft sent them 2-month old stock.

Has anyone seen fresh cans lately? I thought the whole premise of this beer was to have a world class DIPA that was going to be fresh and readily available.

I see BS collecting dust everywhere. I have it a few tries and will not go back.

It is Atlantic Distro, not Craft. I think Craft Collective is doing a great job. This is how bad rumors get started.

I enjoyed it even if it wasn't fresh off the canning line.

I've noticed new (?) batches of Boom Sauce seem to replaced the date with what I guess must be some kind of batch code? And yes, I know what a Julian date is, although I guess I might have missed it if they used some weird format. Bad sign I would say.

Agree on their beer, but I went to Lord Hobo in Cambridge for the first time a few weeks ago & was very impressed. Yeah, there's plenty of flannel & lumberjack beards floating around. But I didn't get that obnoxious tone from anyone. Host was great, server was great, beer list was great, bartender was great, food was great. Only complaint is that the chicken & waffles were criminally small for the price. I'm a big man damn it, feed me.

Regardless of who does distro, is it on them for holding cans, or LHBC for the product they brew? Does LHBC provide fresher batches on a consistent basis to them? Or are the fresher batches reserved for the brew house and Lord Hobo bars.

bought 3-4 packs of BS over the first 8 weeks, bought STC once. On my most libatious nights, I might have 3 IPA's. I never had more than one of those in a night. wanted to be impressed, tried real hard to be impressed, but in the end, I wasn't and that was a bummer.

I found Boom Sauce to be more of an imperial hoppy amber than a DIPA. Kinda like Nugget Nectar, except sloppier.
Steal This Can had a good appearance & nose, but taste & aftertaste never had me craving for that next sip before the first one has gone down.

not bad beers, but any place I can find boom sauce I can also find an IPA or DIPA that's far preferable & cheaper.

That fact hit me in the face when I bought what would be my final pack of BS. There was some fresh Flower Power next to it on the shelf. Haven't had flower power in a while and almost pulled the trigger. Somehow I decided that "let me go for the beer that I haven't really enjoyed and is three bucks more expensive" was a good move. Lesson learned.

I think they still need to work on classic supply and demand. They where so focused on supply they forgot to make sure there is demand. Pallets going stale all over.

You are absolutely right, my sincere apologies to the folks at Craft who do excellent work. Momentary confusion while posting too quickly; wish I could edit my post to fix it.

I last bought some in September, meh. I really want to support my local brewer. They are in the next town to where I live. Boom sauce seemed good, but not great. Do they keep changing the formula? Dialed in yet? Any info on this? I gots to know.

I know big D stated he doesn't care about what we think about his beer, but do you guys think he'll give up this flagship DIPA dream and start fresh with a more traditional beer?

I was in a very run of the mill/non craft-heavy beer store by my house and the person working behind the counter told someone "don't bother" when asked about Boom Sauce and Steal this Can. Basically these are collecting dust on shelves everywhere. They should just distro out of state where people might buy it just because its a "New England IPA". Look forward to the shelf space at these smaller places being replaced by anything else in the coming months.

The beer was bad when it was released and there has been virtually no improvement in the second and third chances I gave it.

According to social media, the latest batch of Boom Sauce is #13.

I saw some posts on a local FB trade board saying that it was better so I stopped in to try last Friday. If anything, I think it has taken a step back. Consolation Prize should be the flagship as it is easily the best of the 3 beers used in the blend, IMO. Oddly enough, it never seems to be available in cans, but I probably wouldn't buy it anyway. Too many other options that are as good or better for less money.

Also, the Mosaic Wheat pilots were pretty bad, too. I wish they would let Vince get back to some of the styles he seemed to be so good at brewing while at Night Shift.....
