    Night 3. A quick burning candle, dinosaur toys, cheese, wild boar salami (#jews4pork), & a 2011 Saison-Brett. Past it's prime a bit but still a solid beer. Followed it up with a SN Narwhal.

    Back in the day the hardcore hippy contingent was well represented by Jews. And fine beer (and other fine enjoyables:wink:) was always enjoyed in Dead lot to a much greater degree than in society at that time.

    Happy Hanukkah to all you Hebrew guys and gals! While not Jewish myself, I grew up in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood, so I was fortunate enough to appreciate some of the customs with friends while I was growing up. Cheers to all!

    wasnt able to post last night for the 3rd candle but the little get together with @SteveB24 and @Feller87 was quite epic, as you kids would say. The dreidel in the middle still lets me post this pic in this thread :slight_smile:

    Yes... I'm still stuck on this beer and Poland thing! I found data on beer consumption per capita and Poland is #5, after Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, and Estonia. Huh! So *are* there any good beers from Poland? Would love to get one as part of my "Drink My Way Around Europe for Chanuka"!

    I think it's better than that. The Bock is really nice, too, plus it's one of the few Traditional Bocks out there (meaning not a doppel or mai bock ).

    Why would you think that they don't??? (Communism can put a damper on things.)


    Poland is 9th on the list of beer producing nations by volume. That's ahead of Belgium and the Czech Republic.

    Some would argue that their Baltic Porters are definitive.

    If your wife's family came from Poland rather than Austria, they might have had lots of Zywiec in the fridge.

    If you like smoke, try an American made Grodziskie.

    In fact my Rabbi was a Dead Head (in the last wave of the band's existence w/ Jerry) before he became observant. He and his wife met at a Dead show in Vegas, and both ended up becoming observant Jews separately, reconnecting in Crown Heights ex-post and ending up married. It's a helluva story, replete with cult rescues, meditative drum circles with phylacteries on, and some of the "enjoyables" @cavedave referenced above. That's a long winded way of saying, Jews and Grateful Dead have a long and happy history together.

    PS my Rabbi still prefers bourbon to beer, but I haven't given up hope yet.
