    I'm intrigued

In yet more Arts District beer news, it looks like 213 Hospitality’s long-awaited craft brewery is still moving forward. Not much has been seen from the Cedd Moses beer project since it first came to light back in 2013, but recently LA Weekly announced that the forthcoming project had actually landed a brewmaster in Devon Randall, a multiple award-winner formerly of Pizza Port.

The plan, as first announced, would be for the Arts District Brewing name to be used in conjunction with a 17,000 square foot space that would included pizza, games, and more than two dozen taps. The location on Traction Avenue has been seriously overhauled since the Crazy Gideon’s days, and with the addition of Randall seems quite close to opening.

Once unveiled, the large space would immediately look to make an impact in the exceedingly hip neighborhood, even as nearby Iron Triangle Brewing continues to gobble up space in anticipation of a summer arrival.

Return of the Sassy was absolutely killer. From what I understand you'll start seeing their beer on draft in the better bars in the LA area beginning next week.

Blue Palms just put another keg of Traction IPA. Amazing stuff. Go and get that shit now. Previous keg only lasted a day

Anyone who has been there... Does this seem like a reasonable place to take an afterwork crowd to watch the Thursday Night Football game tomorrow? Looking at those photos, it looks like they have a couple of TV's lined around the bar, but they look pretty small, and I don't see any other larger monitors, even anything on the level of Blue Palms's TV...

I know a lot of people nowadays are frowning upon the "sports bar" vibe, so maybe they're trying to tone that way, way down... But I'll be going out with a work crowd, with the idea of watching some football and grabbing a few berrs and a bite to eat, and I need something better/different than BJ's...

Looks like the are only open Friday - Sunday for now per the LA Eater article Chris. But, it does have that vibe for a cool after work place, serving whiskey too.

Their Instagram feed shows they are open 7ndays a week, with Thursday hours 4pm to 12am. Will call them tomorrow at 4 to confirm and save myself a trip if they're still not quite in full swing...

    Huh?

"Arts District Brewing is soft-open as of Sunday, and will keep weekday hours from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday hours from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday hours beginning at 11:30 a.m"

Visited a couple weeks ago before a show at Staples. They are a 5 minute walk from the J-town Gold line stop right down the street from Angel City. Decent sized parking lot for this part of the city. Five dollars for two hour parking.

When I went they had nine beers on (they have space for 32) but only managed to try five before I had to get to the show: Traction IPA, Velveteen oatmeal stout, Porter Rico imperial porter, Kablamo Rye IPA and a red IPA that I can't remember the name of. I had a couple sips of Spirited Saison. All ranged from good to excellent. I thought traction was solid. Was hoping for more hop aroma though. Velveteen and Porter Rico were my favs. I didn't really care for the red-though admittedly I'm not a huge fan of the style, I found it was too boozy for my palate.

Overall this place is worth a visit. I didn't try the food but I'll be back for sure. I feel it's still carving out its personality but there is a lot of potential given the space. This is a great place to go with a large group or if you are the type that enjoys playing games-skeeball, corn hole, darts etc. They also have spirits at the bar for cocktails. I also liked they were very well staffed-no waiting 10-15 minutes to place an order.

I'm curious if they will start filling growlers soon once they brew more beer. I really hope they barrel age the Velveteen at some point! It had a lot of depth and flavor and was my favorite beer I tried.

I found the articles posted on Facebook very interesting especially this interview with Devon Randall:

Was there last night for MNF and spots near the big screen TV were wide open (there's at least one big screen), so I'd say yes it's a good place to take in a game. You had to compete a little bit with the sound of the cornholers (heh) behind you but I'd say it meets your requirements. That area around the big screen probably seats around 15-20 people I think?

Traction IPA is on point. Rye IPA is on point. The Velvet...whatever (oatmeal stout) was pretty good. As for the food, skip the burger and get one of the dogs and an order of ham fries.

Decent house beers (with Traction being my fav personally) / some solid guest taps (Feral One / Avery Raspberry / etc) / skee ball / tots with vermont cheddar dipping sauce...

    Worth a visit.

Stopped by for lunch and beers on Saturday afternoon. The ham fries are ridiculous... so good with that cheddar sauce. Burgers were great, but small. Almost slider small... I had plenty of beer, a burger, shared tots and those ham fries. I didn't leave feeling like a fat pig.

I agree about that Traction IPA, really good stuff.

i made a 2nd visit last night. Traction IPA is amazing.

i find the crowd here confusing, but i'm old and unhip. maybe it's an Arts District thing.. seems like the crowd at this brewery is almost exclusively young asian kids. nothing wrong with that of course.

in any case, if you're on the fence about visiting should check them out

I've made it here 3 times and each visit they've been out of Traction. Maybe next time I'll be luckier.
