Do you ever drink BEFORE work?

Me personally, I save it for after work, days off, and for those mornings I cook up a breakfast. So I voted never.

Ya I work in food service, usually have to work at 4pm.. I'll have something 8% or less around lunch. Dosent really effect me much. No crazy imperial anything though. If I don't have an ipa at lunch and after work I start getting backed up on fresh beers, lol

Depends on the work. If it is serious and important I probably wouldn't get buzzed close to work time. My last job was at a restaurant doing prep work and making pizzas, bread, and some other food. I drank a 22oz. Stone - Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle before work one day because I was going in late and got bored and wanted to try it. I was still pretty buzzed when I got there. Not sure if anyone noticed but it didn't make much of a difference. If I had to write or do some serious work then I would probably wait til after.

 

Never did...or at lunch either...so glad to be retired now :-)

 

I work 3rd shift and will occasionally have a beer when I get off in the morning before going to sleep. Then go back to work that night so does that count as before work?

 

I drink for work

 

At my old job before becoming a nurse we would go out and have a liquid lunch. Usually we would get to the pub around 7pm, stay for a beer or two and then finish out the shift that ended at 10pm. That jobs sucked though...the beer was the highlight of the day.

 

When I was a paratrooper, it was considered weird to show up to first formation sober.

 

Yes, it is. And I always make myself an Old Fashioned before I fill the Pyramids with grain.

 

I work at night a lot and I'll have a beer with dinner before I head out but that's about it.

 

No. Never. And like someone said above not even before I do work around the house. I get lazy if I do. And its a treat to keep me motivated for after.

I never drink before work. At one point when I was young, I delivered pizzas and was offered drinks and other non-monetary gratuities while delivering in a college town. I may have partaken (though never DUI).

I never drank before work or during work either. Now that I am at home I do pour a pilsner while I make my way through the kitchen once or thrice.

 

An acquaintance had a job not too long ago where there was open bar at work, and folks would be walking around with drinks in the afternoon. They have since figured out the liability of the open bar, and shut that down.

 

I voted never, although technically, there are cases where I have to be on call on the weekend to oversee rote tasks, and I might have a beer or two in that case.
