I was going to see if this was still on Tap at Max's today. If so, I also will be doing Burton Ale for NBS. Sounds like it is up my Alley!

There's knowing how, and there's making the effort . Sundays are for laziness for this BA :grinning: (we won't mention that the other 6 days are as well).

    Thanks @Shroud0fdoom for the effort!!

As others have mentioned, seems like warmth and high temperatures have settled over BA land. Here in N of Boston we are having a good day, cloudy, warm, and the baby is asleep(!). My beer today is a scotch ale aged on oak called Snow&Tell from Boulevard. Received this in my beer of the month box, it was one I wanted to try, but not in a multi-pack format. Pours maple syrup brown with a light head. Plum and fig with definite oak is evident in the nose. The taste is sweeter then the smell. Much more fruit flavor then I'm used to in Scotch Ales. Overall, glad I tried just one. More oak, less sweet, and it would be a return buy for me.
Up next is the new (for the E Coast) collab between Stone and Sierra Nevada

Good afternoon BAs! I have to brave the damn shopping mall this afternoon, so I'm pre-gaming and trying to get into the mood with this classic. And I get to break out my fancy glassware:
Christmas Ale - St. Bernardus (Belgian Quad)

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Poured a beautiful dark walnut color with a thick tan head that lingered nicely. The nose was complex: full of spices, clove, plum, dark bread, fruitcake, and yeast. The taste was quite similar, with fig and raisins dominating along with the malt, and only a hint of spiciness. The floral and estery notes were subtle but definitely present. As expected, the finish was pleasantly warm and a bit sweet, but not cloying. Brightly carbonated and full-bodied. Overall, a great quad. Not my favorite, but an outstanding seasonal offering. Cheers!

Well back for a second go round today this with a newly released NH beer. Released on Thursday this week was Stoneface Brewing Rum Barrel Aged RIS.

Having had there non BA RIS before I new that the BA version would be great. I missed the BBA release so when I saw the RBA posted on Thursday I was there.
This beer poured a deep black color with a thin tan head. Lots of rum in the nose with all the great chocolate and vanilla from the base beer. The taste is smoother than I thought it would be from the amount of rum in the nose. A nice bite from the rum but not over powering and you still get the wonderful chocolate and vanilla from the base beer here too. I think this beer will age wonderfully as the regular version does and will drink a couple now and save the rest for later.

    New Witbier Sunday

Hello all! Around 60 and rainy here in Milwaukee today. Today's brew is from Uinta - Contrail. It's a summer release, but I got to drink it before the freshness date of 12/17/15. To me, it's a very nice interpretation of the style. Appearance not great, but decent enough, but the taste is full and well-balanced. Smooth and easy-to-drink. Surprisingly, it is still awaiting ten reviews to have an official score. I scored it 4.12 (well above the current average of 3.58).

Here is the link to the review:

Glad to see a favorable review as I recently picked that up myself, though I didn't expect otherwise. I don't think they've built the St. Bernardus beer that doesn't make me very happy.

Hellllooo everybody, finally have some time to sit down and have a beer with y'all !!! been a BuSy day here in CT with the temps in the 60's ??? Wtf and the holidays approaching rapidly. Spent the morning out doing some final xmas gifts. This afternoon I sighted in my new toy "wink wink" as the season is coming to a close soon and no meat in the freezer :slight_frown: for the first soda today I present this

For starters let me say I'm usually a big fan of everything I've had from terrapin. This one not so much
Way I say WAY to much razberry!!! Not enough porter backbone to balance it out either. To me taste like a carbonated razberry juice. Which sucks I so wanted to like this, their liquid bliss was good why couldn't this one be the same. Either way I'm glad I tried it but won't be seeking it out again.

To all you guzzlers of gruits and sippers of saisons may your day have plenty of new beers and I'll see ya next week. Same shit same place

L: Pours copper with a huge thick fluffy white head.

S: Stone fruit, funky dusty musty basement, spring flowers...great stuff

T: A very slight bitter pine grapefruit fades right into the funky exactly as advertised by the smell.

F: Nice and juicy ending a bit dry???

O: I'm a sucker for Brett IPAs I think it was ment to be and this one delivers imo.

Not a big review guy, so I'm a little out of my league here. But I've got two BA colleagues who share beers, one has family in Iowa so he brings me back TG and Surly, the other travels to Chicago and hooks me up with FFF. That's the great thing about BA, taking care and sharing what this industry is producing.

Toppling Goliath XHOPS gamma, this beer pours opaque orange, small head that fades to nothing quickly, smell is nice citrusy orange and tastes juicy orange grapefruit. Nice sticky lacing left on the glass. Overall decent APA at session able 5.8 ABV. Going to crush the second pour!

New Brett Saison Sunday (week 564)
Greetings fellow NBSers from on the ridge in Mid Hud Val, NY. Big thanks to @smakawhat for filling in for me today, great opening in the inimitable smaka style. As expected, due to the extended Indian Summer we are experiencing, folks were out in force, and my military assault of recycling kind of day ended an hour late. Highlights were 40+ yards of cardboard brought in, which I reckon as about 2 trees not needing to be cut. Thanks to all who spend moments to care for our Mother.

This beer is really tasty, but when there are beers like Boulevard's Brett Saison, and others locally available here that are more delicious, it suffers by that comparison. Quick description is a thickish and highly carbonated beer that features a taste that is earthy dry, peppery, and tart. Full description here.

Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

That's three reviews I've seen for this brew recently that were very non-laudatory. Sharing in your NBS disappointment, I suggest grabbing a beer you know you like next .

    Happy American Wild Ale Sunday!

Pretty nice day here in GJ, mid 30s, sunny. The calmness before the storm, suppose to be a nice little storm coming tomorrow morning, at least some snow should hit at this elevation. About 500 ft. gain from my place at 5200 had a nice little touch friday night, early sat. So, tomorrow, hopefully in a storm/blizzard I will be taking a hike, yeah! Back on track, this brewery makes some pretty freakn' good beer, always a joy to have one.
