Trade gone bad- what to do?

    I sent out some beer in April and haven't gotten anything back. I tried to be pretty understanding, but at this point 4 months later I doubt that I'll ever see the return box.

    Here was the trade for those interested:
    I sent Abraxas, Sucaba, and Heart of Gold and was expecting a DL (any year), a bottle or two of ZD, and a FFF bomber back. Initially the bomber was Mutiny and the Mollusk, but after we set up the trade and I shipped, he informed me that he drank that one. He also said that he didn't have any ZD yet. I was like, no big deal, just send me something else.

    I don't really know what can be done if there is a bad trader, I am reluctant to name and shame mostly because he has been in sporadic contact and it seems like his intentions might have been good. He's been inactive since August 3rd, though, which was the day when he said that he was shipping the following day. He's done that a few times, too. I have his name and address obviously, so it seems kind of foolish for him to do something like this. Is there anything I should do?

    April, that's a long time, it is time to name the trader here so they don't burn anyone else. Bummer you have gotten burnt.

    He drank one of the beers he agreed to trade you? And he agreed on another beer he didn't have? And he hasn't shipped to you in 4 months? Pretty sure that is the trifecta of bad trading.

    I agree with the above statements. Just name him before someone else gets burned.

    Sounds like a dickhole. I'd out him, regardless of if he ends up sending or not. All scam artists are bad traders, but not all bad traders are scam artists. Some of them are just BAD at TRADING, which this guy clearly is.

    First, name him in this thread and add him to the bad trader list. Second, send me a BM and I will send you a DL '12. I don't have your other beers currently or I would send them too. I hate assholes. Cheers!

    You Sir are a great man, and a gesture like that speaks volumes about you as a BA and a person. I am truly happy to see stuff like this it really makes BA seem more and more like a community. Once I get back on my feet I want to do something like this or a BIF/LIF so any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I only have 1 trade under my belt and I'm new to this(NOOB). Not a group thing to much for me as a NOOB but a guess this win that type of thing.

    Wow, that is really generous of you! Trader was SpottedZombie. It seemed like he was a pretty active member of the community, which was what made me willing to ship first. If anyone knows him, maybe there is some additional explanation that I don't know about. I will update the spreadsheet with his name if I don't hear back from him pretty soon.

    People, this is exactly why you DON'T WAIT to out a bad trader. The longer you wait, the more chance the jerkhole has to screw over other people. Probably wouldn't have mattered with this guy, but it can help others avoid issues in other circumstances.

    This has been far too long. A bad trader can burn a bunch of other people while you debate whether or not to name them. Please update the bad trader spreadsheet with the dates and facts. That way others are educated on what can happen when trading with him.

    I understand giving people the benefit of the doubt, but waiting too long puts other people at risk to get burned. At some point an ultimatum need to be issued - ship the agreed beers, return your beers, or be listed as a bad trader.
